Correcting rear suspension

Ok here we go again!

So I just put up my front C/O's a little more since my shocks settled a bit over the last 2 years ya ya ya, which in turn lowered my back right side a tad more than the left now after I Re-leveled the front again. I have super flex coils and a 1.5" spacer in there right now on both sides...

I spoke to someone today who recommended I purchase an adjustable rear track bar to let the rear axle level out

Anyone know if getting one is worth it? or will even fix this problem? OR should I just stick a 1.75" spacer in there to correct the lean for a quick fix?

I've not heard of anyone using the track bar to correct the lean. since the coils do not sit at outside of the axle, if you have 1/2" lean it will take more than 1/2" spacer to correct. Several have used one 1.5" spacer on the drivers side and they are getting it evened out. This sounds like a lot, but they report that the passenger side gets lifted when this spacer is installed due to the location of the coils. Hopefully that makes sense, I can diff up a discussion thread if you'd like.

In your case, I wouldn't suggest stacking spacers, and i'm not aware of anyone making a spacer bigger than 2"in the rear. About the only thing I can suggest is swapping to the all pro 3.5" coils and use a single 1.5" spacer on the drivers side. Before doing this, just make sure your rear shocks are long enough, you don't want to be left with no down travel.

IMO the rear coils should be different heights/stiffness in these kits to correct this issue. The rear driver side is around 400 pounds heavier than the passenger side. It's to bad aftermarket companies don't take this into consideration.
 
I have the extended 5125 Bilsteins so I'm OK there plus new brake lines, I'm not going to stack spacers, I should have made it more clear that I was going to pull the 1.5" from the right and stick a 1.75" In there for 1.5/1.75". ( I have them made). Its just a big PIA for someone who is as anal as me and has to have their ride perfect LOL

Anyone else know anything about the track bar?

Yea, I understand you weren't talking about stacking them, didn't mean for it to sound like that. My point was that you need a 2.5" spacer on the driver side to correct based on what i've seen, and I don't know anyone who makes that so your only option would be to stack them. That was my original thought, but I just checked and you can get a 2.5" spacer from cornfed but it's $145, I'd do the AP 3.5 coils if I were spending that much.

To put this into perspective, I just installed the overland warehouse kit on my 4runner.. I used the ome trim packer which is approx .4" thick, and it did not alleviate the driver side lean, still have 1/2" difference. Due to the location of the coils on the axle, a .4" just isn't enough.

I hope you find an answer on the track bar, I am interested as well. You may check the 120 site, one or two people there just got the Sonoran Steel lift which includes the bar.

Edit: I really don't think the track bar is going to do what you're wanting, still gonna do some checking on that though. In the meantime, here's the thread I was referencing. I'm planning on doing the same, already have the spacer just need time to install.

Also, at the bottom of this page, JA comments that the ome trim packer did not help his driver side lean either, which confirms you're going to need around an inch difference to level it out most likely.

Going with in adjustable track bar (panhard bar) would provide a couple of advantages.

Adjustability to bring the tracking of the rear axle back in line after lifting the suspension. As you lift the frame away from the rear axle, the tracking bar will pull the axle to the right. Measure the distance from the frame to the inner edge of the wheel on both sides and you'll see they aren't even. Two inches of lift probably won't make a whole lot of change in the tracking but anywhere above that, you'll see a noticeable difference. An adjustable bar will allow you to bring the axle back to center.

Typically the ends of the aftermarket adjustable track bars consist of Heim joints, Johnny joints or greaseable polyurethane. They offer better articulation under flex then stock.

It would do nothing for correcting lean. Get some quality springs like All-pro or custom springs from Custom Spring Specialties.
 
Yeah, I called Toytec earlier today and the bar isnt going to do anything for the lean... So lets bag that option!

I still don't see where your coming from ARk with the 2.5" spacer... I don't need 4.5" on one side LOL

What is strange, is that its the passenger side that's giving me problems unlike the drivers side usually for most. Most likely I'm going to stick a 1.75, possibly 2" spacer on the right ( On top of my superflex coils) to fix the right lean now that we've ruled out the track bar

I could get new coils, but I already have 3.5" of lift in the back with the superflex + spacer set up... So really I'd be beating a dead horse to ditch what I got now for pretty much the exact same thing LOL

One taller spacer is only gonna run me probably 70 or so bones which appeals to me more at the moment
 
Did you read the thread I posted a link to? It talks about this. Basically adding a spacer on one side will actually lift both sides.

This is courtesy of photog from the thread I linked, pretty much explains it.

Something to think about: The rear springs are not at the ends of the axle. They are about 1/4 - 1/3 inboard from the end of the axle. This means that adding a spacer will have a lifting effect on both sides of the vehicle. there will be 2/3 more effect on one side than the other. The same is true up front.

I had a little over 1/2" lean. I installed one spacer. I got 1" of lift on that side, and 1/2" lift on the other side. Now it is level, with a slight rake when empty.

If I had installed both spacers, I would have 1.5" of lift. I didn't do that.

I added a .4" spacer on mine and it didn't help the lean. I also posted a link where another member did the same and said it made no difference. My experience confirms what photog is saying, it takes a much bigger spacer than you'd think.

Could this lean cause alignment problems? Im about an inch lower on the left.

If i put the spacer in the rear would i need to get an alignment? Sorry for the lame questions, new to this lift stuff.
