Interesting seeing this article shortly after spotting rust on my brand new 4Runner.

Yeah, I'm going in for my first Toyota Care visit and I'll get them to address it then. I just think it's crappy to have rust on a brand new vehicle.
Well the article is about a frame issue that Toyota has since honored and replaced many frames. I have a friend that has a brand new frame from Toyota. She is very happy. So comparing a rivet to a frame is a little over the top but I can see how this could be upsetting. Any signs of rust on any vehicle is disturbing. I would make sure the dealer documents the issue, then address the issue and coat it with touch up paint. YMMV.
