What is a reasonable cost for a shop to put on a new muffler and tailpipe?

Depends on your market. It can cost as low as $100 on the low end up to $500. I would call around to a few shops and explain what you want done.. See what they quote you at. Really it just depends on what your local places are charging. I mean your not gonna drive an hour or two away to save $40-$50.

I paid 80 when I originally got the resonator removed and turned to the side and the muffler replaced. I ended up having the resonator put back on but I plan to take it off again. I would suggest seeing if there are any reputable backyard mechanics because that’s the way you will save money
