Could this be the new 4Runner?

Yeah, those pics don't show anything but I think by the end of the year people will be discussing how ugly the next gen will be since we will have pics of the next one by then.;):

Kinda like 3rd Gen guys said about the 4th when it first came out? ;):

No it is not the new 4Runner

DUPE thread.

That vehicle has been mentioned here before. The opinion is that it is NOT what the next 4Runner will look like.

Thank goodness!

:bash:

I was told by a dealer last year, that in 2009 the 4Runner was slated for a design overhaul, and that 2008 would be nearly the same as 2007.

I believe him as it seems the 4th gen has been out quite a while.

Yep, that's why everyone is waiting for the pictures towards the end of this year. They have planned on a total redesign in 09 for quite a while now.

Everyone will be disappointed then :D Toyota never releases photos a whole year early. The next gen will be out in the dealerships about Sept. 2009 as a 2010 model.
2008 is only year 6....Toyota has been running their SUV's 7 years.

Yes guys, it's NOT the next 4Runner. Seen many of those during my stay in the Philippines, hence even got to TEST DRIVE my uncle's Fortuner. It was a 2wd 2.7L VVTi... It seemed sluggish if I were to drive that in America.. But for the roads there, it wasnt too bad. Headroom is MUCH better than our 4Runner! Interior could be better, but I totally love the Optitron gauges they used...

The ride is BUMPY.. Beware. I'm not sure if the tires were just over inflated, but it seemed really bumpy for an SUV.. and to think it's coil spring, not leaf spring!

They have a diesel version of that car. The basic is the G 2WD 2.7L VVTi
Next is the G 2WD 2.9L D4D (Direct Injection Common Rail 4spd Drive)
Top is the V 4WD 3.0L D4D

:p

Strange, I just looked at that link that was given here, and apparently in Thailand (where the Fortuner is manufactured) there is an option for a 3.0 G M/T! Filipinos are dying to get a Fortuner with M/T but it isn't available in the Philippines.

God I hope the next 4Runner is bigger than my 97 because the 4th gen isn't. I hope it does come with a 3rd row seat because my 97 does'nt and I hope it's better looking than the 2008 Sequoia(ugly) and looks more like the Land Cruiser(better).

I really hope they keep it on a full chassis, keep the solid rear axle and make it availible with a manual transmission! That's not asking for too much is it? Cool styling and availible 5.7 would also be nice.:biggrin2:

The 5.7 is my biggest concern that I have repeatedly stressed. I think it would make the 4runner even more ballsy. My 4.7 is fast, but more is always better. It's better to know that you have it if you need it, than to not have it at all.

You sort of hear the sound of the diesel in this one... (from a Filipino guy with his brand new Fortuner, looks like he bought it from Toyota Makati)

It's the 3.0 Diesel hehe.. (how to tell if it's a G 2wd Diesel vs a V 4wd Diesel, the 2wd G Diesel doesnt have a hoodscoop, plus on the G the emblem on the side is just a simple D4D, unlike the V it says 3.0 D4D plus the hoodscoop)

We have to appeal and let them know we don't want it! Because it says..

Fortuner replaces Toyota 4Runner (Fourrunner), which is known as Toyota Hilux Condor in some markets and as SportsRider in Thailand and Indonesia.

Where did you get the information about the Fortuner replacing the 4Runner?
