WOW....NO LOW RANGE.... I did not see that coming. How did I miss this when I was siting in it...

Yeah but on the otherhand there is a locker on the trail ed. Do the regular 5th gens have a rear locker option or just a CDL?

The limited has a CDL and torsen center diff, SR5 and Trail are part time 4WD. Trail comes with a rear locker which is not available on the other models.

(the Limited isn’t available with low range)

Extremely skeptical of the accuracy of that factoid.

Me too. I think the author was fooled by the center diff into thinking it was just like all the other AWD crossovers.

Could we get a 5th gen Limited owner up in here to confirm or deny?

skeptical here, too...

but saw this...

" The 4Runner SR5 and Trail 4x4 models have a two-speed, part-time four-wheel-drive system with neutral position, maximizing fuel efficiency when a 4x4 configuration isn’t needed. The 4Runner Limited is equipped with a full-time, four-wheel-drive system with a locking center differential and a three-mode, center console-mounted switch"

which is from:

Toyota | New 2014 4Runner Features Rugged Exterior Design to Match Its Authentic Off-Road Heritage

I'll let you guys read between the lines...

I mean, what's the point of locking the center diff is there is no low range?

Yeah, it makes a point of saying the SR5 and Trail have low range, but says nothing about the Limited. Suspiciousssssssssssssssssss...

I posted to the 5th gen forum and called the Limited a girly crossover, I expect we'll have our answer shortly. :)

I think this is new to the 2014. I look at all of my pics from the inside of the Limited I took, and I suck so bad that there is not ONE single pick of the 4x4 sifter.

I guess there is nothing wrong with being silly but why would you post proof on a public forum for all to see?

But for fun try to name the three different modes...........

Mode 1 : Center diff Unlocked / Normal full time 4wd
Mode 2 : Center diff Locked / High range
Mode 3 : Center diff locked / Low Range

Nice job and good to see all is not lost :bravo:

Another clue would have been: "The A-TRAC traction control system is standard equipment on all 4x4 models".
