Couple of dumb ?'s

1. what is that little tab thing for on the shifter ?

2. what is the port plug in my center counsel for ? (IPOD) ??? to run through the radio controls.

First question: you're probably referring to the cover for the shift lockout...if you can't shift with your foot on the brake, then pop off the tab to access it.

2nd question: that is the port for ipod or other mp3 player. you can buy a cable for $10 to plug it in, or if you mp3 player comes with one. you have to switch to "aux" in order to play the portable device.

Mine is a 2007 and it has the Aux plug. I think 2007 was the first year, someone correct me if i am worong.

I hate to ask this but doesn't anyone know what an owners manual is for? These are both clearly explained there.

Why did you take the time to respond to this , don't worry about it then. I was reading some stuff in my owners manual , but left it out at out cottage . I'm not going to make a trip just to get it.

Sometimes it just easier to ask a question of fellow 4runner owners, especially when you're on the forum anyway. I know I appreciate a kind response instead of being told what I "should" have done.

Yup, the AUX port was added with the styling update. My 2005 doesn't have it.
