Couple of engine mods???

I have been thinking about a couple of engine mods lately. I have an 05 v6 sport and I am going to purchase the k&n intake system. I was also thinking about getting an airaid throttle spacer. Has anyone tried one of these yet? I also noticed that the fan is run of a belt coming from the engine. I was thinking about replacing this with an electric fan and freeing up some of that horsepower. Do you thinkt he benifits would be worth it? Any advice is welcomed. Thanks

Intake filter and exhaust. There is not much aftermarket for the 4Runner, not even TRD. I have the TRD drop-in air filter and a MagnaFlow cat-back exhaust and estimate somewhere about a 15 hp gain.

K&N worthless
Throttle spacer worthless

elec fan good idea
exhaust good idea
headers good idea

replace the k&n idea with the True Flow. (search and you'll find some good stuff).

Good luck

I looked into the True Flow system. They do not make one for my v6 T4R. I also looked into headers and was told that they are not out yet but will be in a couple of months. I was also told that they will just be glorified manifolds (not full length) and definatly not worth my money. I am getting a magnaflow cat-back system installed in the near future. Are there any of brands of cold air intake systems that you would recommend over the K&N system? Thanks

I would wait for the True Flow. I thought they already had one for the v6 model so I would check again though btw. There's no substitute and I wouldn't use anything else.

Hey, was reading the thread and noticed True Flow makes an intake for the 4.7L... It shouldn't make any difference if it's on a 4.0L, should it?

Yes!! The Intake is in a different location. 4.7 - Air comes in from the front center. 4.0 - Air comes in from the left front.

The kits are NOT interchangable.

Whew, thanks for saving me the trouble. Oh well, I'll keep my fingers crossed there are enough V6's sold to warrant aftermarket companies will make more stuff...

Volant CAI

Info posted on T/S:
Volant now has available CAI for 05' Tundra V8..
Part # 18047, not on website yet it's so new
I'm wondering if it will work on the 4Runner ?
Anyone know if current OE Tundra & 4Runner are exactly the same ? As far as the air intake is concerned ?

I would not think so. The engine bays are different sizes which would require a different intakes.
