Couple Q's about the new 4runner

So I'm new here, figured I would introduce myself a little. As you can tell from my username, I own a tacoma. Used to own a 2nd gen 4runner and i had some of the best times of my life with it. Now I drive a 07 Tacoma and love it. Got her modded with a 3 inch toytec left, 32" cooper STT's, sliders, and an ARB bumper.

Anyway enough about me. My mom just sold her FJ60 and is looking at getting a new limited 4runner. Just wanted to ask a couple questions.

1. Is the new 4runner frame based off the current tacoma frame?
2. If so, does that mean suspension up front is the same?
3. How different is the 4runner 4.0 compared to the tacoma 4.0?
4. And lastly.. if you dont mind me asking, how much are people paying out the door for a limited 4runner 4wd?

I had an 05 Tacoma. i don't think the frames are the same, not sure though. Front suspension is basically the same, with the exception of the Limited which has the XREAS. If you took your Toytec coilovers off the Tacoma they would bolt onto the 4Runner. I used my TC UCA's from the Tacoma on my new 4Runner. I don't notice much of a difference between the two engines. My Tacoma seemed quicker with the 6spd and less weight.

1) Frames are completely different. 4Runner is box tube from nose to tail. The Tacoma appears to have a box tube (or differently reinforced) front section but is C channel from approx firewall back.

2) Front suspension geometry is very similar if not identical.

3) The 1GR-FE in the 4Runner is basically a refreshed version of the one in the Tacoma. It was a heavy refresh, though. It gained roller rocker valvetrain, VVT on the exhaust cam, and now runs on 0W-20 oil. The oil filter is no longer remotely located at the top of the engine and is a replacement cartridge style instead of the screw on unit. I like the cartridge better, but the placement under the skidplate is annoying.

4) Can't help. I have an SR5. Getting $500 over invoice shouldn't be terribly difficult. OTD is different for everyone due to taxes and fees being different for each state.

The 4Runner and FJ frames are almost identical.

Just some added info to what Quentin mentioned...The Tacoma is boxed up front, then where the cab is thats a reinforced C-Channel, then from the bed back, its open C-Channel.
