CR Under Fire

'CR is the reason for the demise of the Big 3 American auto manufacturers.'

Huh, I thought it was crappy products, crappier customer service and crappiest resale values. When the Big 3 are giving their cars away, constant rebates and deal mongering, who can take them seriously? Plus the vehicles they produce are un-inspiring, un-imaginative and are prone to shoddy workmanship and engineering.

GMC, we are professional grade. Yeah, professional grade crap.

Just to show how ridiculous these surveys can get. To get the results they want, this survey changed the criteria on how it rates the best quality manufacture. They now use the customer

I thought I read somewhere that Toyota and/or Honda employ more Americans and/or build more cars in the US than any of the other 3 automakers, or something like that...

Not sure where I found that article, but I'll try and dig it up...

It doesn't matter; blind, ignorant people will not be able to read or comprehend facts. They just follow the lead sheep.

I hate sheep.

This is not a news that "big 3" never invested in reliability improvements because parts sales was profitable enterprise. Also authorized dealers profited from repairs as well. I would not invest in purposefully poorly engineered and inferior autos that roll out in Detroit until they show me that those cars last without repairs. Same goes to some European stuff out there. Bringing Renault to US again? Don't get me started. And for all rednecks out there: RUN LIKE HELL TOYOTA IS COMING TO NASCAR's NEXTELL CUP. I bet they never saw this coming.

LOL...reading some of the CR mail reminds me of a few of my extended family members. The whole "I have been driving a Ford my whole life" is exactly why they continue to drive Ford. They dislike change, competition, etc. Makes me want to take a mallet and give them a good hard hit in the back of their head to wake them up!

I had an uncle (who I loved dearly) who hated any Japanese product. He had his personal reason from Pearl Harbor and the war. He was definitely old school and was a farmer his entire life. I used to chuckle to myself because one minute he would be bad-mouthing Japanese products and then he would go hop on his Caterpillar track loader. He thought Cat was American. Any fool could swing open the engine bay and see "Made in Japan" right on the block. LOL...ignorance. I never told him his beloved Cat's were manufactured overseas. It wouldn't have changed anything.

no1sportz,

I had a buddy just like your uncle. He's dad always American cars and he was like that until his first Chrysler turned out to be a lemon and was bought back. After his second Chrysler got hit, he didn't feel comfortable driving a repair car, he traded it for an Acura TL and hasn't looked back. He traded that TL and got an RL now.

Until another manufacturer can design vehicles that compete with Toyota, I'll be walking the Toyota/Lexus showroom for my next vehicle needs.
