Hi guys,
First post on this forum for me. Have had several cars prior which included 2001 Nissan Maxima 5 speed, 1995 BMW M3, 1994 Lexus SC300 (turbo'd pushing about 500hp), 1974 BMW 2002, 1985 Mazda RX7 Widebody (w/ 1994 twin turbo engine - build still in progress), and 2001 525IT (touring w/ 5 speed manual). This will be my first automatic and the first car which I will not be modifying (at least that's what I'm telling myself right now).
I was actually looking at used 5th gens but because of the high resale values of these SUV's, adding a few thousand dollars more would get me a brand new car with no previous owner history. For example, I was seeing used 2010-2011's 4x4 with over 50k miles selling for $28k so to me, it was a pretty easy decision to go new. Plus, I wanted nav and sliding cargo deck which was hard finding.
This past weekend, I picked up a 2015 SR5 non-premium 4x4 (I did not want softex because SUV would be parked outside). I knew I wanted the exterior in Super White and my initial though for interior was Graphite but upon looking at one, it was simply too dark for me. I went with Sand Beige...luckily Toyota was smart enough to at least combine the Sand Beige w/ black carpeting unlike some other car manufacturers where the whole interior would be beige and bland. The only 2 options I wanted were Nav and the sliding cargo tray. With the 2016's coming out, I knew the 2015's would be a good deal and luckily I found a dealer w/ the 4runner I wanted. The MSRP for this particular 4runner was $38,011 and included the paint protection film on the hood and doors, ToyoGuard Select, and running boards. Dealer also added tint, mats, and nitrogen filled tires on top of that. I was able to talk them down to $33,700 with them removing the mats and nitrogen (of course this stayed). Not a bad price and I believe I could have done a little better but I was happy and needed the car (sold my other car the day prior). They did have to add the $599 dealer fee on top of that, then tax, tag, and title. Overall, not a bad experience and I thank the thread on out the door pricing to gauge what I should be paying. Also, the $33,700 was inline with Truecar's estimate with Nav and sliding tray so the other items I got were a bonus to me.
I do need to buy some rubber mats and have read good things about the Husky mats (WeatherTech's just too expensive). Also found Maxliner from Autoanything so that is in consideration. Then the only other thing I need to buy is the cargo cover. What's the best place to get this?
