***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

You got a new dash, the warranty enhancement can only use the new part pertaining to it.

Had our first 4runner dash show up this week. New part is still being made in Japan, very obvious by the packaging.

Single pic I snagged while throwing it in.

Eh, it wouldn't be the first time the wrong part was ordered for a TSB/Warranty Enhancement. The main issue is that there's a handful of people who had the dealership replace their dash BEFORE the ZE6 was released, which means they would have most likely pulled whatever the current part number was.

oof! That gives me a headache just looking at it.

Eh, it's not as bad as it looks. The Dashpad itself isn't that hard to remove, now if you were removing the dash bar/support structure... that's a b****

Dash & AC Evaporator

Has anyone successfully leveraged their dash replacement with an AC evaporator fix to get the cost down, since they are pulling the dash anyhow? My AC quit and has the tell tale leak. Recharge lasted only a few weeks. Either one of these fixes is over $1k.
Thanks
Sam

I've never received any letters. My case # was issued in the beginning of May. I have been assured that my 04'Runner is covered. I went into my(large) dealership and they said they have received 0 4Runner dash boards.

Where are my letters? Lol

Part number says it's "new" dash

I read over the post by BlackWorksInc and I can confirm my dash was in fact a new dash - at least according to the part number on my service receipt.

And according to the parts list, there were two color options, and it looks like they picked the wrong one... :redbrick:

So mine has turned into a total nightmare:

1) dealership never calls me to tell me parts are ready for order despite being on waitlist

2) schedule appointment to approve crack replacement, dealership never booked the appointment but ordered anyways

3) called me 1/2 way through my appointment to replace my dash to tell me they actually just found out they ordered the part...but never received it. they also forgot to call my insurer about flood damage on the car, didnt complete another recall, and forgot to replace several interior lights.

4) drop car off for second time...get a call in the afternoon telling me that my old dash is out but they ordered the wrong part...service manager has no record of the missing repairs that were reiterated this morning so i have to restate them all...he says he hopes to have my car back together by 6pm but can't promise it...he promises to call back between 4pm-5pm and never does

5) i go to pick up my car at 545pm...the dealership has lost my house keys that were on my keychain along with several items in my center console...there are now 3 warning lights on the dash, the trim around the shift is sunk into the center console, and the dead pedal is missing...im now unable to get back into my house, my car is lit up, i have no dead pedal, and there is glue on my window

oh, my, gosh

Got my new dash installed today=) Letter came about a month ago, which blew me away, because I have been disgusted about this dash issue for going on 3 years now. I bought this one at a non-dealer used lot, and the dash started cracking soon after :/ This is my third T4R, my last one went 300,000mi before throwing a rod, pulling a trailer, and still kept going! I love these things!! Ive never had a problem like this, thats why I stick with them, and why I avoid American cars.

Started following this forum topic for progress updates, but had pretty much given up, and decided I would buy the BMW X5 next time, due to Toyota not stepping up to fix this common dash issue, and the fact that the hitch is not a "true" full blown trailer hitch, and I had to buy a sturdy hitch in order to tow my toy hauler.

Got my letter, stopped in to dealer to order parts/schedule appt. They took pics, looked at my letter, and said it was backordered, they would call me in September. Two weeks later, they called me, said the dash came in early, and scheduled it. They said they only perform this service on Fridays, and they have done a few of these now, so they have it down. Dropped it off at 7am, picked it up at 3pm. Looks like new. Good call, Toyota! Now go get yours!

I work at a dealer down in Miami, haven't seen any 4runners pass through. I've done my fair share of Camry, Avalon, and solara dashes. I heard though it was coming in waves for this region, Camry etc first then T4R & sienna. Will keep updating as it goes on!

As for mods done to dashboard or general area of dashboard we are pretty lenient, unless it directly effects removal or installation of dashboard. Something as obvious as the customer spraying chemicals etc on dash we won't accept though. But for the previous we'll most likely just ***** a little and do it anyway.. P.S. It doesn't pay to well either :(

Took ours in last week. Dealer ran VIN and ordered new dash. After a brief wait they told me the parts would take 1 month to get here. They did however Schedule the service and gave us a time and date. Keeping our fingers crossed.

bumping this up. With 130k miles and my AC compressor making a terrible noise, I'm wondering the same.

I never got anything in the mail. Checked the toyota site with my VIN and nothing came up about the dash. I have a 03 Limited

Have your VIN number handy. When you gotta get shit done, you'd want to head straight to the top of the chain (corporate/corporate customer services, not your local peasant stealership or regional customer service in your area) and go from there. GL sir

edit: that was taken from 1st page...i'll try locate a specific email address but it's probably better to handle it over the phone so that they can help you quicker rather than "getting to your email after they finish with earlier emails" !

Ha!! The dealership just called me. I'm scheduled for dash board replacement on the 6th of Oct. All this with no letters received, all they wanted was the case #. I provided the dealership with my case # last month.

FYI: I'm in FL
