***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

Just went in to see about getting my flashing TPMS light checked. $85 just to check it, no thanks. While I was there asked about the dash replacement, they took pictures and he said he will check with the warranty adviser to make sure it was covered and will then order the dash. He did say that it will take awhile though.

Looks like mostly the SR5 trim are the ones getting replaced? My dealership said that the dashes with the center speaker aren't available yet.

hopefully soon. It'll be nice to look at a crackles dash :cheer2:

Took mine (SR5) to the dealer back in September to get it looked at. Got a call last week notifying me that the dash was in. Just took it in tonight so they could get to it first thing tomorrow morning. Man, I get nervous thinking about someone else taking my dash apart...Fingers crossed that all goes well!

Glad I saw this thread. I just picked up a new to me 05 Sport. I thought I was going to have to live with the cracked dash, but hopefully I can get mine replaced. I'm planning on contacting a dealership soon to find out.

I called my dealer yesterday here in Western NC to check on the status of mine. It was ordered back in August. It was there ready to be installed, just waiting for me to call I guess! Scheduled for the end of the month.

03 silver 4runner limited.

Well finally took it in, picked up the loaner. Got home and received a call to let me know that they in fact did not have a dash in stock. The crew is nice as can be, guess someone just looked up the incorrect part number when I rang to check a few weeks back.
They said that there 11 others also on "national back order" for their dealership alone.

Center speaker dash availability?

I ordered mine some six months ago. Should I even bother calling , just wait or expect to be contacted. I know there is a deadline, I believe it is May, I am not sur if that is to file or it is to get the thing installed. My biggest fear is that since I am being patient (the 4Runner is not my primary vehicle) my chance at getting my dash replaced will come and go and I will be left with a disintegrating dashboard.

Reported mine to toyota in 2012 and again this month. I have 03 with cracked dash but appears my vin is not included in the warranty. Doesnt make sense. mine falls in time period and has the failure mode but is being denied.

Did you double check it against the TSB I posted to make sure? I would call Toyota Customer Care and talk to them about it, they should be and to help you out if the dealer won't.

Got a quick visual inspection by the service manager at the end of September, was told I'd get a call in ~6 weeks when they start to come in but that I was for sure getting one and easily covered (Cracks along what appears to be passenger airbag retention bracket)

Stopped by again today (3 months later) and was told that I had to have the tech do an inspection that takes ~1 hr and than maybe might be able to get one.

Those are actually the cut-outs for the airbag deployement, i.e. the purposefully weakened areas so the dash splits open when the air bag deploys. Mine was starting to crack along there as well.

Wow an hour? They must be paying their technicians really good because we don't get jack squat for labor on inspection, only replacement.

That makes more sense, I figured it was something for the airbag. Glad I'm not the only one with it cracked there. Yours covered under the warranty enhancement?

I wouldn't be surprised. Liberal Seattle =/

More likely is that the service manager doesn't like me, always seem inconvenienced that he has a customer.

Wow, when I went and got mine inspected, a service guy came out, took about 3 pics with his phone, wrote down my info and that was it. Maybe 5min.

That's what happened 3 months ago, I thought I was all set. Went back today because they didn't call me back as they promised (Typical) and they now want to spend an hour with it before they schedule

I have a 2003 SR5 and they approved it more than six months ago but I haven't heard anything. I would try again.

04 with 140k and a crack across the top of the gauge cluster. dropped it off at toyota while i visited family and they sent in pictures and ordered me a dash. ill be waiting the customary month for it to come in. they told me its a guarantee that it'll get approved

I had mine replaced recently by Roseville Toyota. It was painless, they took a few pictures and put in an order for the dash pad. It took almost two months before I received a call that the dash was in but within a couple of days it was done. I dropped it off 1st thing in the morning and received a call a few hours later it was done. They even gave me a rental car for 2 days. Couldn't be happier.

Called Toyota Customer Care and again stance from Toyota is that my vin is not included in the recall, even though falls in the year and obviously have the same failure. Also said lack of customer loyalty and service records, would still not help me. First new car out of school. how do you ding me for customer loyalty when i haven't had to buy another car and did my own oil changes. The few major items were done at Toyota.

They also commented that a number of owners had failure mode but with vin's not included. Anyone else run into this issue - failure mode and year but VIN not covered? Of those, were you able to get toyota to extend the warranty to you? If so, can you share your case number with me?
