***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

Yay! I got my letter in the mail for my 2005 SR5. One small crack started to show up in my dash about 6 months ago. I can't wait to get it fixed before it becomes a bigger problem.

We just got our letter! Yay finally! About dam time. Acura took care of this like 2-3 years ago. Glad Toyota finally agreed they screwed up and are doing the right thing.

Got my warranty enhancement letter today!!! I had all but given up on that dream. So unbelievable, I had to read this thing over and over. What is even more unbelievable is the condition of my dash, cracked and disgusting, covered over by a sad dashmat. Thank god those days are coming to a close...Other than the dash, my 2003 is perfect!

My Letter arrived yesterday.:boink: ya lets add Center Diff Lock Actuator and Brake Booster too to the List. Get some of that $$$$$ Back.

What goes wrong with the brake booster? I thought there was something wrong with mine because it seems like it requires more force than what I would consider normal to keep the truck from creeping at a stop light, but I've always owned cars prior to the 4runner so I figured it was just a side effect of more torque. In any case I did a full system bleed and it seemed to help some.

I got my letter in the mail this week as well! Toyota is making it right, thank you! Now if I could get my alloy wheels that are pitting like crazy replaced I would be a happy camper.

I haven't even signed papers on my 03 T4R, but jumped on the forum to check out all the issues I found, including the giant cracks in the dash. I sign the papers to buy it this Saturday but went ahead and filed my claim which they accepted and said they will mail my letter by May to get it replaced for free. Love this forum!!

Got my check today!!!!

spo0587, HUGE thanks for your post with a mention of me. i just called that 800-331-4331 number. They took my name, found me in their database, confirmed my vehicle is included in the campaign and said i'm GETTING PAID BACK!!!!! Big thanks to all of you for fighting the good fight. This was David vs Goliath and Toyota stepped up to do the right thing. I need to send in the fillowing:

1 - "Repair Order" - translated, I need to type what i did. I'll just type "replaced dash" and include all the pix from my job. The woman said that would be sufficient. Honestly, I may send them a web link to my post from awhile back.
2 - Proof of Payment - I still have the receipt in my glove box for the part
3 - Proof of Ownership - copy of my registration/title

Fax to 310-381-7756 or Mail to:

Guys, SERIOUSLY - thanks again to all. Love that 4Runner. I've replaced XREAS shocks, timing belt, and I'm doing the radiator this weekend. She's gotta last a few more years! Will use the reimbursement for new leather seats from leatherseats.com. Happy New Year!!!!

WOOHOO!!!! After an initial rejection letter that I sorted out with my local Toyota dealer that I purchased my dash from, I finally got my check!!! It's real folks! Still can't believe it..... as soon as it clears, I'm buying new leather seats from leatherseats.com. Stay tuned for pix on that job in a different thread I guess. Thx again to the leaders who kept driving this forward - you know who you are (ahem.... momo.75). Interestingly enough, my Dad got his letter today for his 2007 van so I guess this thing impacts a bunch of other cars. Toyota really had a problem on their hands....

Last year I gave up on Toyota, and installed one of the plastic dash cover things. It is permanent. Glued in. Anyone know if this will affect claim? In all honesty, at this point, I would rather get compensated for the dash rather than anything.
Thanks.

I am not sure how that would work. Maybe if you had some pics prior to the dash cover. I would just call and see what they say

I bought my 04 about a month ago, but negotiated to have the dash repaired/replace as a part of the deal. The dealer thought he could get away with only repairing the dash, but I knew he wouldnt be able to and he had no idea what the cost to replace would be. I picked it up last night with the brand new dash!! Looks awesome and the dealer said that it took almost a full day to complete the install.

Do the '06-'09 model years not have the issue at all?

Looking forward to getting our '03 done. Hoping they don't introduce any creaks/squeeks.

Toyota/Lexus must have had a bad batch of dashboards overall. I just got a letter in the mail for my 08 Lexus IS250 dashboard replacement.

This might have been put in this thread already, but the letter had six (6) other vehicles in it. 03-05 4runner, 05-10 Avalon, 07-11 Camry and Camry Hybrid, 04-10 Sienna and 04-08 Solara. It also mentions reimbursement for any out of pocket cost and to allow time for Toyota to prepare the necessary parts to implement the warranty enhancement program.

Wonder what else might be coming down the Toyota pipe?

I also got a sticker that needs to be stuck to the owners manual.

i got my letter a couple weeks ago....but i ripped off the old sticky crap and rewrapped it in vinyl but thats starting to peel near the gauges....not sure how I'm going to work this one out....kinda pissed...i do have another dash that i got from an 05 and it cracked while in storage....but it has the center speaker i don't want

What am I missing..

I own a 2004 4Runner

I do not have any cracks and my dash is not sticky.

Do I have to wait to get cracks before getting it replaced ?

I thought the warranty was for 10 years after purchase and I am past this time frame.

If I could get it replaced with a new one, I definitely would.

Please advise

Your 04' even without cracks should be covered, this new extended warranty that covers the dash expires in 2017 even for your 4Runner.
