***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

I don't feel like reading this entire thread but I received a letter from Toyota like a month and a half back saying my dash was going to be replaced from all of this. #winning.

Me too! But I sold that 4R last year. Kudos to all for getting together on this. Love this forum!

I called Toyota last week. They told me they where working on the new dash
for this issue. They would be mailing letters out to people when they get it ready. She told me that the letters should be going out in May for the 2nd owners.

Got my notice on dash

About 3 weeks ago I got a letter from Toyota saying they WILL extend the warranty and the will cover a new dash if you need it..included a sticker to put in the owners manual with the warranty extension and said letter will go out sometime in the near (maybe !) future once they have enough dashboards to start the replacement process.. As it turns out mine is being ripped aprt today for a more serious issue.. the engine immobilization system crapped out..I'm looking at 1500-2000 grand for the repair..I'm gonna see if they can get a new dash and install it seeing the other is already out, and it is cracked.

Getting dash replaced

I went into the stealership after I called toyota. They inspected it and said they would replace the dash. There's a long lead on the parts though. I was told late spring before they would be ready to replace it.

New Dash

Spoke to a polite young man from Toyota today and he told me I did qualify for a new dash. Apparently I will also be getting new floor mats because of a recall and there is another unintended acceleration recall. Maybe I could do them all at the same time.

I just called and after only a few minutes speaking with a rep I too am on the list for a FREE replacement dash. Many thanks to all involved!

"New" 3rd owner of an 05 Sport that spent its life in FLA. The dash is badly cracked. Just got off the phone and the customer service was phenomenal. Thank you for making this happen and sharing the knowledge.

this may be a noob post... but they're replacing all of these dashes with no action whatsoever taken towards the hatch rust issue?

The rust isn't a safety concern. My guess would be they're concerned about the dash issue because if a severely cracked dash were to have an airbag deploy it could potentially throw debris everywhere.

Thanks for posting this, I am on a warranty enhancement & got my case # to have my dash replaced! They said the parts will come in around May.

Nice Job!!!

Just bought an 04 limited V8, 2nd owner, 152k and solved what I thought was "strange" shaped series of cracks!!! Bonus points for all the leg work !!!

Called toyota headquarters back in January after finding out about the recall, she ran my VIN# and confirmed my vehicle was part of the dash replacement, she instructed me to call a local dealer in April as May is when they would be receiving the parts.

I called my local dealership today "mind you i still have yet to receive the letter, He informs me there is nothing in the system in refferance to this recall

It's actually referred to as a "Warranty Enhancement". This may be why he can't find it in recalls. I got my letter within a week of calling Toyota.

Harmor-all?

After armoralling my dash all afternoon, i thought i'd visit the forum...:faint:
You all have been all over this! I don't armor all very often, but is it really a confirmed cause of cracking? I have no cracking at all on my 2005 SR5 dash that i just purchased last week. Sounds like most of you have 03s? Hope to avoid this from happening, like ever...I imagine as a second owner with an extended warranty that i would be able to have this fixed if it ever *pops* up...

also does anyone use scotchguard or something like that on seats?

keep up the awesome work.

Amour all is terrible. Buy something better like Mothers VLR or Meguiars. Amour all creates a greenhouse effect on the dash, heat gets trapped under the oily layer and dries it out and if it heats up and cools down enough it will cause stress cracking. And I'm pretty sure it's 03-05 since they changed the dash in the 06-09 (you'll notice it isn't as soft and padded). Mothers VLR is pH balanced with soybean oil so it is a lot better at cleaning and protecting than the amour all trash. It's so cheap for a reason.

Hello all,
I just bought my 2005 4Runner last week and decided to do some research and came across this forum. One of my first intentions after buying was to have my cracked dash board replaced. I am so happy to see this post and hope that I am not too late to receive the warranty enhancement. I will keep you all posted on my results. Thanks.

After getting promoted again at work, I have decided to drive the T4R more than my 1998 Cavalier. Being in a suit and working in community the T4R represents my job and me much better. Anyway, just noticed the dash started to crack yesterday. Hope all goes well, about to call!
