***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

Thanks for all of the info and to the original group of people to start this thing off....your hard work and dedication certainly paid off!

I'm a first time Toyota owner and just bought a 2003 Limited with the V8 last week with 105,000 on the clock. I viewed this website, saw the sticky thread and made the call. 15 minutes later I had a case number and a 2 month window.

Thanks again!
Kevin

So far it is just my dash board that is cracking. I am wondering if anyone else has had cracking anywhere else such as center console, door panels, etc that seem to be made out of the same material.:snacker:

'05 Dash:

Got the letter and they said it will be May before parts are in. 100% covered and I'm way out of warranty. Mine has started turning sticky in the heat and there is a small 1" crack near the window, driver side near the sensor/front window. Glad it's covered!

I have a small 1" crack all the way against the window. Its very fine and hardly noticeable but I'm watching it like a hawk. I am a t4r second owner of a 2005. Will toyota honor replacement if it is out of original warranty and on second owner? If not, I set up a b2b extended when I bought it with a deductible that should cover it. I had a hairbrained idea and wonder if anyone has tried it: has anyone tried sealing dash cracks with anything rather replacement? Obviously this would screw any possibility of warranty coverage but just curious. I was specifically thinking of black gasket material used to seal electronic components. Any thoughts or experience is appreciated.

A crack is a crack so you should file a claim. More will happen. I don't think it has mattered if you are the 2nd owner or not. They will just base it on the VIN.

When mine first cracked i had a guy that does interior repairs try to fix it. As far as i remember he was able to stop that crack from spreading and masked it pretty good but then cracks just started popping up all over.

It doesn't seem to matter whether you are the first owner or not, even if out of warranty thanks to momo.75.
My T4R was imported from the USA to Jamaica after I don't know how many previous owners. I am the third owner since it has been imported and when I called they just updated the registry and will be sending mine to my nearest dealer.

That isn't the start of a crack.....that is a crack. That is where my first on popped up. Welcome to the club!

Now that we are in May i am anxious to see whenthe replacements start happening. I had sent in all the required documentation to be reimbursed and even received a call saying it was being reviewed ao i should be seeing a check soon. Just wish the Mrs. didn't know it was coming

I just call Toyota Cust Care and received a case number. He stated that the parts are currently being shipped to the dealership under the Warranty Enhancement Program and transferred me to the dealership. The gal at the dealership said they are on Phase 2 and based on where my crack is I am covered. They just need to inspect and submit the claim. I have an appointment on the 27th (my schedule is booked, not the dealer). She did they that demand has been high and my second appt will be based on the availability of parts.

Just got back from my dealer inspection. They said Toyota still doesnt have parts ready and that Ill be notified when they do to set up another appointment to have it replaced.

Just heard from my buddy who works tech in Toyota. Said they just got word that parts are coming in by the end of the month.

Do they want pics of the damage to get on the list for a new dash? I don't have but one small crack but I figure by the time parts are in it might be just in time for the cracks spreading
