***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

just bought a 2004, noticed theres a crack from the left drivers side air vent and goes directly over the speedo area and down to the next vent on the right of the steering wheel. Not a huge deal to me as I realize I bought an 11yr old car. Worth calling Toyota still?

Yes because this warrenty enhancement just started and Toyota is covering all 4runners between 03-05 regardless of how many previous owners the vehicle had.

Personally i would. Even if it doesn't bother you if you try to resell the truck that will be something that could hurt your value. Since it is free, minus the trouble of dropping it off and such, might as well take advantage.

Great, thx guys! Just called and got my case#, they said they are in the process of ordering parts and couldn't give me an exact time frame, but should be back in contact with me soon. No big issue to get it fixed fast, but hey, free fix, I'M IN!

Thanks to the original poster for laying the groundwork and providing information. Called the number, got verification that VIN is included and received a case number. Waiting for the letter.

They didn't ask for any pics from me. I had taken a great picture of the three intersecting 9+ inch cracks, but they never asked about it. I just told them I had cracks over the passenger side airbag and that I heard about a repair program. The rep promptly responded that there was a warranty extension program in place for certain VINs and gave me case number after running the VIN.

Called Toyota of Dallas this morning.

They say the parts aren't released yet and that I need to wait until the 2nd letter arrives. I got the feeling a lot of people have called about it because he knew exactly what I was talking about.

I have a feeling it is going to take a little while to do these replacements now that all those airbags have been recalled. The service departments are going to be a little busy.....lol

Just got back from my Toyota dealership. They are currently not replacing my dashboard even though it is covered under the "Warranty Enhancement". They said it is not bad enough yet and I need to come back when it gets worse. I will say it is not bad at all right now, just one crack down the center of the passenger's side airbag, but I wanted to get it done before it got worse. Who knows how long it will take to get worse, but I hope it does soon (as weird as that sounds) so I can get my new dashboard.

If you have an open claim i would check with a different dealership. To me one crack is enough

Yeah that is the next thing I plan to do. I am surprised that they did not offer to fix it, that dealership has been really great to my family and we've had good experiences with them. The next dealership to try is the one where we've had bad experiences. If they refuse I'll have to drive 45 minutes to the next dealership.

I have a 2003 with a crack that starts from driver's side AC vent across the front edge of the dash that goes past the radio and stops.

There is no crack on the passenger airbag area. What is the likelihood that mine will qualify now?

Does a crack have to reach the airbag area? What are the "Crack Criteria"?

:couch2:

ETA: I called the number in the OP and the lady said that I should've already received the "first" letter (never did) and that a "second" letter will be arriving soon.

What is on the letter(s)?

Canadian contact?

How would I go about pursuing this as I am located in Ontario, Canada?
I have the same issues, cracks all over.

I just call Toyota Cust Care and received a case number. He stated that the parts are currently being shipped to the dealership under the Warranty Enhancement Program and transferred me to the dealership. The gal at the dealership said they are on Phase 2 and based on where my crack is I am covered. They just need to inspect and submit the claim. I have an appointment on the 27th (my schedule is booked, not the dealer). She did they that demand has been high and my second appt will be based on the availability of parts.

Just got back from the dealership and I am good to go. Service advisor took a picture and said they will put me on the list.

Bad news - November/December timeframe.
