***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

Called my dealer service dept. and they insisted the right part was ordered, that they order by the VIN.

Hmmmm

Granted, even in the fawn/tan interior 4Runners, the dash pad is the same color right? Can anyone show a photo that there are indeed multiple shades of black/grey of the dash pad?

Maybe check with Churchill here. He is the one that got the wrong color dash. Here is his post in this thread:

If it matches you door panels and center console you're good to go

Dash Pads Differ in Color...

I have been meaning to post on here for a while now to give an update.

I have the same issue. Dash pad in my Silver 03, fawn interior is darker (charcoal in my opinion) than the pad on the new dash my dealer put in (dark grey).

The two color choices dealers can order are fawn (tan) and stone (gray). No separate part numbers for dash pad colors. I do not know why the colors vary. I actually expected the newer pad to appear darker. It's obviously lighter. It's not that noticeable to the average person and I still don't regret having my dash replaced. My advice is still to DO IT. My dash looked a heckuva lot worse when it was out of my truck than in (service manager showed it to me).

Here are two pics showing the differences in dash pad colors. There was enough of a difference that the service reps at Midwest Toyota took pics to show Toyota. I've not received a follow up call and it's been maybe a month or so . . .

Just had this done. I picked up my '04 from a guy in NJ and was disgusted by the look of the dash. It had a big vertical crack on the passenger side and what looked to me like melted fingerprint marks as if a hot, finger-shaped item pressed itself all over the dash. I relayed my concern to the seller and he showed me a letter from Toyota saying the car qualifies for a recall.

I bought the car and the first thing I did was take it to my local dealer to try to get them to replace the dash. I expected them to give me a hard time to avoid doing the costly recall service but to my surprise, it was the easiest, least painful dealer interaction I had ever had. They simply asked for VIN then walked over and snapped a pic of the dash and told me they'll let me know when the new dash would arrive. Sure enough, two weeks later they called me in; I dropped off the car in the morning and picked it up in the afternoon. New dash looks great :).

Stopped by my local dealer (Seattle), they promised me a new dash 6-8 weeks from now when supplies get in.

I got new dashboard yesterday in Houston

I got my dashboard inspected at two dealerships, Don Mcgil and Mike Calvert in Houston around one month ago.
Before stopping by Mike Calvert, I had asked the inspection of my dashboard at Don Mcgil when changing oil. But at that time, I had not received any feed back from a service staff. So, I went to Mike Calvert. Before the inspection, I hadn't received any letter. I just went to dealership to get an inspection.

Almost at the same time both dealerships called me to schedule the service.

I chose Mike Calvert where is closer to my area. I dropped off my 4runner yesterday at 8:00 am and picked it up at 4:00 pm. New dashboard looks really nice. It makes me feel my car new again.

If somebody wants to change your dashboard, hurry up calling to Don Mcgil dealership, 281-496-9730. They have a part now.

Thanks for this info. I'm actually going tomorrow after work for the inspection. Im in Pasadena area, and closest to me is an Autonation toyota. I'll call your guys first tomorrow! Thx!!!

Anyone in the Phoenix area have theirs updated yet? Submitted mine all the way back in May with no second letter and the Dealer (Toyota in N. Scottsdale) said they submitted but haven't gotten the parts. Somehow I don't trust them.

Runner4ever, I think I will take your advice. Yesterday, I took my Runner to Alvin Toyota for my dash inspection. Those *******s, drove it around to the back of the facility and kept it back there for over 45 minutes, before I began to start asking questions. Come to find out, that instead of the dash inspection, they were doing a "full multi-point inspection", in a clear effort to drum up business from me. I was pissed. Aside from the fact that my Runner is absolutely TIP TOP, they were wasting my time. After I expressed my extreme displeasure, they drove it back around, and proceeded to tell me that it will be about three months until they get a dash in. Then stated that they will give me a call whenever that happens. Thus, I will be calling Don McGill Toyota later today! Thanks for the info.

I just had my dealer order the part so I could get my replacement. The real question is will the new dash crack as the old one did????

Thanks for posting this info. I have a 2007 SR5 and havent had any issues on it but I also just bought it. The previous owner lived in Florida and so far no issues to speak of, but I do keep it outside 100% of the time so good to know there is a place to reference if I should have trouble. Thanks again!

Two weeks ago I took my 05 Sport to a local Toyota dealer for inspection. I'm the third owner and the truck lived in FLA before I bought it in GA - the dash was cracked pretty bad.

I got a call yesterday that the new dash was in, and today it's in my truck! Thanks to all of you who fought for this warranty. They even upgraded something about the ABS while it was in the shop.

After 5 weeks of waiting, phone calls and personal visits I finally got my dash replaced! Toyota of FW did an excellent job and are even going to step up and replaced my damaged center speaker housing. Dash looks just like other seen above, lighter and less reflective than previous dash.

Hey guys, I need some help.

I don't think my dealer ordered the right dash. They ordered 04005-15135-B1

I'm unsure which interior I have, but its a 2003 Silver Limited. The interior looks like this picture:
39355819.jpg

I've had a few people say they should've ordered the -B0 color code.

They ordered the part over 5 weeks ago, I've called and still no update. They insist they ordered the right one and claim they ordered it by VIN and couldn't have messed it up.

Has ANYONE had their dash replaced with a "-B1" part no.? My current theory is Toyota isn't making a B1 color and that's why it hasn't come in. Plenty of people on here are getting their dash's replaced without much delay but all I've seen is -B0, so I feel like my dealer ordered the wrong part (that's not in production).

So I guess two questions,

Did they order the right one?
If so has anyone received a -B1 dash?

Any help?
