***Cracked Dashboard Action Request***

yes it is a 2004. I have email contacts with Toyota SE before the campaign ended.

I just got this for my 15yo son. We have some work to do it before he turns 16 in February. As soon as I get my mandatory reply count I will post some questions and requests.

I would try another dealer ASAP, the longer you wait the harder it's going to be to get it replaced since all the dealers know the deadline has passed and all of the inspections had to be done before that deadline or should have been, the dash is cracked, correct?

Thats INSANE...May31st deadline...give me a break !!

Toyota Knew that 2003/4/5 are having issues with dashboard as time will tell how many are facing issues..how could they possibly issue a deadline..as weeks n months pass more defective ones are revealed. I think Toyota should take this seriously and own the problem. Whats the toll free # to call that some of you had a positive response. Appreciate.

They are replacing dashes for free on 8-14 year old vehicles. That is already above and beyond what any other automakers would do. They gave a 2 year deadline, they have to end it sometime...

Hate to say this but you had 2 years to make your dash crack by parking it in the sun or wiping harsh cleaners all over it. If it didn't crack then it probably won't ever crack.

Inv4drzm ...i get your point, but this isnt about using harsh cleaners or parking in hot sun. I have had all kinds of vehicles..the BMW x5 i had were having issues with cracking plastics..tht was noted in forum. Have had hondas that were 20yr old never any issues..Have had 3rd gen 4R Never a problem..Now go figure. There is a reason why this thread is growing with more #s.

Finally got mine done. It looks great, but the mechanics broke my aftermarket Kenwood head unit installing it. Sucks, but the dealership took care of it.

You know we never received any notification about dash replacement on our '04, and I would never have learned of this if not for the forum. Is there somewhere on the site that has a list of these?

As for yours, bluduk15, just getting replaced gives me a slim hope, if I go in and play dumb my dealer may take care f me. If not, I am out nothing but time.

Good luck, but as of now I have not heard of anyone getting their's approved for replacement after the May 31, 2017 deadline!

bluduk15 had his approval well over 2 years ago, hence why he was able to get it replaced after the deadline, those who had their dash inspected and approved before the deadline are still covered if the dash hasn't been replaced yet since they are already on the waiting list for their dash to be delivered to the dealer.

You should still be good, its 10 years from date of purchase assuming your the original owner. Here at work we are still replacing them.

DeathMetalTony, if you're referring too Oz-Arkian, I think he has a 2004 T4R and even if he is the original owner his ride is at least 13 years old so the 10 years is way gone.

That being said I would think the reason you are still replacing the dashes is because the owners brought them in for inspection, approval and then the dash gets ordered before the May 31th 2017 deadline and as such the dash gets replaced when it comes in which is not taking as long as it did earlier in the warranty enhancement program, but could still take a few months for the dash to get to the dealership and then the dealership schedules the installment with the owner, so until all the dashes that were ordered under the warranty arrive and are installed you will continue to replace these dashes.

I asked one of the advisors and they said max 10 years

Tony, I'm sure what you mean or trying to say, especially when it is referring to T4Rs?

But if you look at it in reality, the Warranty Enhancement Program only covers 2003, 2004, and 2005 models T4Rs, the 10 years secondary coverage you speak of was from date of "first put into use", e.g. when the T4R or other covered Toyotsa were sold new, the Warranty Enhancement Program began around the first of 2015, so most all of the 03 and 04 models were already passed the 10 year "First put into use" clause at the start of the program, and the 2005s were out of the "10 year" clause within the first year of the program (Very convenent of Toyota to do that for Toyota's sake, do you think!!), so now all of the covered T4Rs are now not covered under the "10 year" clause.

That being said there are other Toyotas covered under the program other than the T4Rs, some of those other models may well be still covered under the "10 year" clause if there were "put into use" after 2007.

Exactly, as I stated all Toyota 4 Runners that are/were covered are now passed the May 31, 2017 deadline to be inspected and approved as well as the 10 year secondary coverage, and since this is a T4R forum all other models are irrelevant to this topic!

Just got mine done. Took about 2 hours. Was on the "wait list" little over a year and a half.
03 4runner. I'm honestly surprised toyota covered us this long and took care of it.
For anyone else that did not get on the list it's unfortunate you missed the cutoff date, but they had the list open until 2017. I can't think of any manufacturer that would cover a non mechanical or safety related part that far out of a 3 year warranty.

My 05 just started to exhibit a crack where the passenger A pillar enters the dashboard [emoji24][emoji24]

OMG....you guys won't believe this.

I originally went in on June 5, 2015 for my inspection. I have called several times in the past only to be told that "I was #xx on the list" and they are getting them in very slowly.

So fast forward to yesterday, I called to get status. The lady calls me back and informs me that they tried to call my cell 3-5 times in April and that since they didn't get a call back, they removed me from the list and there's nothing that can be done.

I can't believe that I've sat here patiently waiting for 2.5 years and now they are going to try to do this. I never received one call from the dealer about my dash.

Amazing....
