Cracked front upper control arm mounts

Anyone ever see a cracked front upper control mount? I’ve never had those upper conntrol arm bolts out but it seems like it’s one long bolt inside a solid sleeve that runs inside the spring perch. If so, I don’t think where this crack is located will really do any damage. I can’t imagine it coming it apart as long as that bolt runs all the way through both mounts. The broken piece seems to be acting much like a spacer and does not move with the suspension. Both front mounts are cracked on my 4runner.

Has anyone seen this?

Hey who hasn’t jumped their toyota just a little bit? Haha. Idk how long it’s been like that. Probably a while. I do off road trails and do some rock climbing but I’m not too mean to it.

I’d pull the bolt and arm and weld it. You don’t want an UCA shimmy. Get UCA gussets while you’ve got everything apart. I use Solo’s but Total Chaos sells them too. Some easy insurance.

Yeah I could certainly weld that back together. Thanks for the tip on the gussets.

What are the symptoms of an upper control arm shimmy?

I was talking if those welds were completely cracked all around then you’d have an UCA bolt moving horizontally, shaking and wobbling around. Is the UCA bolt still torqued tight? (87 I think??)

Got ya. I’m not sure if they’re still tight. I’ll have to check. They don’t appear to be loose.
