i, as i'm sure all of us do, often talk about what i wanna do to my 4Runner with my friends. when i mentioned lifting and said i only wanted about two to three inches, one of my buddies suggested i "crank the torsion bars." not exactly sure what those are, but he told me that i should be able to get about two to three inches of lift just from that...

is this true? and if so, is it safe and/or smart?

if i'm thinking correctly, thats only with trucks. i have also had a friend say the same thing about his silverado but then said i should do it to level out my ride more, then said i might not have that since i have coils? so i'm thinking its not an option for us.

the 89-95 trucks and 4runners have them. 96 and up is coil-over. I think the most people get out of torsion bars is only 1.5" anyways

It wouldnt cost much to get a good lift on yours if you do some searching. Get 3" spacers for the front. New would cost less than $200 or find someone who is selling used ones for cheaper. Then get a set of cruiser springs and shocks for the rear. I paid $80 for a set of springs and shocks for the rear
