Crankshaft Pulley Problem

So I replaced the timing set on my 22re. While I was putting it back together I noticed the small metal half moon type thing in the crank was missing. It is what locks the crank pulley in place on the crankshaft. I have no idea what happened to it and am wondering if anyone has fixed something like this before. I can't find anything on google about it. I'm thinking about just shaping some steel at my work to slide into it. I'm sure it has to be a tight fit though... Any insight is appreciated.

Its a woodruff key. If your luck you can get one at the hardware store or parts store, but might be a dealer item.

yeh, that shouldn't be too hard to get.

are you sure it didn't fall out when you took it apart?

I had a hell of a time finding one at hardware or parts stores to fit the power steering pulley, I doubt you'll find one for the crank pulley either. I ended up buying an oversized one and took my dremel flap wheel to it until it fit right.

I didn't ask at the dealer, I don't know what they'd charge for one.

if you PM me your address I'll mail you a new one for free. I have a an extra from my 5vz and I think it's the same part.

I'm sure it fell out when I took it apart. I'm thinking it got vacuumed up or something. There is no way I'm going to find it.

I'll see what they say at the dealer thanks guys.
