I would have needed to change the whole seat!!!!
This, and other posts like it made me pull the trigger on some new LBJs. I got them for around $70 each from 1sttoyotaparts.com. I'd suggest to people new at this kind of stuff to use a tie rod puller tool...the pickle fork destroyed the boot on the old LBJ, but the puller saved the tie rod boot.
Just picked up the truck today...
All said and done it cost me 1,782.00,
Did a good job drives perfect, ABS sensor cost 200 bucks?? damn..
And yes I almost had to change my shorts, but oddly only after I parked and saw what happened, When it was going on I was focused on trying to control the truck..

As Brian2Sun mentioned this statement is wrong. You CAN buy the component LBJs from Toyota. It is well documented on the 3rd Gen section of T4R.

The LBJs on these vehicles are known to just break without warning after high mileage. There are usually are no signs. It probably wasn't "failing", it just failed.
No inspection in CT other than emissions to register,
Did not give any indication beyond tracking slightly to the left?? in the last 2miles before failure... Nothing... tracked perfect...
