Crashed -Game Over?

Got into an accident today, first in almost 6 years too.

Long story short, was stationary and he slammed into my driver front end. Thankfully nobody was injured.

Pics:




Still drives fine, the front end is bent, hood won't close properly, no leaks. Recoverable or is this the end of the road for this 3rd gen?

Looks like it might be fixable from the pics, the bumper did it's job, the hood doesn't appear to be all bent up or anything, and it doesn't look like the fender made it to the door, but with anything like this, you won't know what's really wrong until you try to fix it.
 
Looks fixable to me, new bumper, fender, grill, probably cross member. yep run it through insurance, take the check and put a plate bumper on. you will make out on this one for sure.
 
I'm with the majority here. Take the insurance $$$, fix yourself and you should have some money leftover for fun.
 
I got hit by a drunk girl in my 02 t4r a little over 2 years ago now. Honestly it looked like I could have drove away from it. Barely any damage. She hit me right in the passenger side wheel well. Well long story short it was far from drivable. everything on that side need to be replaced. CV, Tie rods, Ball joints, and to top it off, my frame actually got twisted a bit. I spent the last two years fixing stuff from the accident. redid the suspension because it wasnt the same after. When I put the bigger tires on I had to deal with rubbing on the passenger side because of the 1/16" if that much, the frame was bent, so to make up for that I had to get a BL to get rid of the rubbing. All I am saying is be prepared. I definitely don't think its totaled or worth getting rid of, but be ready for the possibility that you may get a bit of a headache. These trucks are great! especially the early models (1st - 3rd gens). I am contemplating selling mine now and I am starting to get sad thinking about not having my baby haha. I am convinced no other truck owners become as attached to their trucks as 4runner owners do lol.
 
Thanks for the replies you guys have given me some hope. If all is well I think its time for a satoshi mod and an arb bumper.

Oow those pics of the frame where the wield broke look bad. That might not be fixable. Pics are so hard to judge though.
 
Wow, that front frame rail is pretty buggered. Is that a body mount that tore off the frame or the front frame crossmember? Second round of pics make me think twice about repairing. Get a body shop to take frame measurements and see how straight it is, then go from there.
 
It looks like the last inch or so of the frame rail is buggered. I believe this means the best fix is to install an aftermarket bumper that requires cutting the frame end off and welding on new bumper supports.
 
I had somebody back in to my tacoma going 5mph. It tweaked the bumper a bit & I didn't think much of it. I took it to a shop & the frame had been bent - a lot. Once it was on the lift I could see what really had happened.

I guess what I'm saying is that you can take the money and go play with it, but you might end up with bigger problems down the road. A structurally sound vehicle is better than any mod you could possibly do.

I'd say have a body shop check it out.
 
Doesn't look too bad until you see the frame ends and whatever is ripped from it. Although we have people bring their vehicles in and repair just what they want repaired and nothing else. That's not what we prefer but it's doable. I had a guy bring in just a frame for a 70s jeep and I measured it with our laser frame doohickey,pulled the damage out back into spec and he picked it up to build the rest. A decent body shop won't turn down a paying customer, but just know it might take longer since there may be other better paying jobs in front of yours. I say have them fix the frame and weld on that mount again and you can take it from there. But, have them give you a full estimate of the damage they find, looks like you might have some rad support damage and that left side is driven down quite a bit which could mean apron damage or maybe more extensive frame damage that might not be fixable with pulling on a frame machine.

Get a professional estimate and decide from there what your options are. Good luck, hope you keep it on the road.
 
looks like its the cross member for the lower core support and skid plate bolts up to. it looks like a good chunk of change in your pocket if they dont total it

Looks fixable to me. I'm pretty sure an aftermarket steel would fix that.
 
Just curious for opinions here: on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being totaled and 1 being no damage, if he had an aftermarket bumper on here, what what kind of damage would he have seen?

Not trying to thread jack, but if you were wondering, yes, I'm contemplating getting an aftermarket bumper for reasons like this.
 
you definitely should get it to a shop and have them check it out for you.

i had an integra that was hit pretty hard and repaired but i always felt like it was crab walking afterwards, and i was happy to sell it.

not to be a vulture, but if you get rid of the stock bumper for a steel one, i'd buy your fog lights and the right turn signal.

i hope you can keep it, i'd guess finding a good gen 3 is harder in hawaii than mainland.
 
How about going for a Tacoma front end conversion? You would be doing replacing both fenders, rad support, hood, grill, headlights and hood.
