crashed my 93 2-door 4Runner!

I bought my 2 door 93 4Runner sr5 V6 automatic new. Had all factory options except towing & leather, plus all dealer options available (I still have the 93 4runner toyota sales brochure).
ALL maintenance done on Toyota schedule. Records. No rust. Excellent condition.
Then an idiot hits it, wife driving, and it gets totalled. Wife shook up but ok.
Insurance says $6,000 to fix so offers me $3,500 to write it off.
I said no, I wanted $5,000. They'll get back to me tomorrow.
Any recommendations?

Ouch. Sorry to hear. My condolences.

I've always like the 2nd gen, especially the two doors so it's sad to hear when one goes, especially when a person knows what they have and treat it as well as yours. And being from Canada I know how hard it can be to keep them rust free so that definately says something about it.

Keep working on insurance, like anyone they'll try to lowball you off the bat, get as much as you can out of them. Besides, it wasn't your fault, why should you have to suffer?

Hope it all works out good for you. And gotta ask, have any before/after pics?

yes, thanks. And it was the last year for 2 door!! 99% of the time it had the back seats down. What a nice configuration.

I did settle with insurance but didn't get what I wanted. Who does?
They want $400 for salvage.
I'd think repairs would be $3,000 - $4,000 professional, or $2,000 dyi.
It got hit right front, did a 360 over the curb & sidewalk, hit the guard rail (same place!), and popped back on the road. Tore off passenger wheel. Engine compartment/rad stuff looked fine. Who can tell about frame.
I'm retired with no tools or room so can't part it out.
I might take a run to the yard to take a pic. It's about 50 miles.
Will post or e-mail a few befores.
