Creak in Right Rear and Dash Rattle on '04 4X4

I had a noise in the right rear seat, and the dealer told me Toyota just came out with instructions to fix it. Apparently, they need to move the striker.Hawk said:

yeah it seems to go away after the seats are down for a bit, then after putting them up, it comes back after several hundered miles like you said. and it just gets worse and worse.
so which dealer did you go to? if mine doesn't know of the fix, i could have them call yours.
is there a tsb about it? there should be, because it really sounds crappy for a $40k + vehilce.
i mean, do you the escalade creaks (with its fine gm engineering)??? that was a joke. i don't really care if the escalade creaks or not. i just care that one is not in my driveway.

Caldwell Toyota in Conway, Arkansas, does all our work -- their service manager (Andy Lamb) is really great to work with and the techs do a good job. Plus, being in a smaller city, you can get to know them so they take a personal interest in doing the job right.Hawk said:
I don't know if it's officially a TSB or just some instructions they got from Toyota. In the past year, they have tried several things (tighten the seat lock, replace the seat lock assembly, etc.) and all work for a while. This one has a few hundred miles on it so far and seems to be holding.
re: And this is how I fixed it:
I removed the rear tail light housing and attempted to adjust the two rubber stops towards the middle of the vehicle (for a tighter sandwiching effect). Unfortunately, they were already adjusted in as far as they could go. So, I decided that the next best thing was to add a thin shim under the plastic bumper stops on the tailgate. I cut two thin pieces of plastic from a clear plastic carpet protector (rolled vinal) and installed them under the plastic stops. I drove around again and smiled from ear to ear as the squeak was no more.
That was 8 or 9 months ago and still no squeak.

We are talking about two different creaks here.
The creak just described has to do with the back lift door. I don't have a creak there.
My creak is in the passanger side back seat. it has to do with the latching mechanism. I will have it looked at next time I go to the dealer.

mtnbkr33 - The noise that I described (as opposed to Hawk's problem) was a real pain in the you-know-what until I fixed it. Be sure to try Hawk's sugestion too (simply lower your rear seats to rule out the latching mechansim as a source).
So how are the trails in Wisconsin anyway? Good riding out there?

THIS IS FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH THE CREEK SOUND ALL THE WAY IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, THE NOISE IS COMING FROM THE HARD PLASTIC STOPPERS THAT LINE UP THE AUTO CLOSING TAIL GATE, THE SOLUTION IS SIMPLE......APPLY A THIN LAYER OF CLEAR SILICONE GREASE TO ALL THE SURFACES AND YOUR NOISE WILL BE GONE, THIS DROVE ME CRAZY FOR A FEW WEEKS AND THEN I FOUND THE PROBLEM. I APPLIED THE GREASE ONE TIME 6 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE NEVER HEARD THE NOISE SINCE. I WORK AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THE TECHS NEEDED ME (AN X TECH) TO FIND THE PROBLEM. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE SILICONE GREASE USE VASELINE
