Creaking from the rear

I've been having this one annoying issue that I haven't been able to figure out. I did a quick keyword search but wasn't able to find anything pertinent. So here's the issue...

Whenever I make a right turn into a driveway I hear a creaking sound from the right rear passenger seat. If I put down the rear right seats, the noise goes away, but it always comes back. Any idea what this is and how I can fix it? Thanks!!!

It sounds like a variation of the problem I had with the rear seat latch. Dealership replaced it a couple of times under warranty before it was fixed. Final fix involved realigning the striker and latch -- they can be misaligned a bit. BTW, it was a real pain to figure out.
 
Same deal here. Creaky noise from the rear when making a right turn into the driveway. As stated above, it was the latch on the rear folding passenger seat (2nd row). I put a little tape on the striker (U-shaped thing that sticks out), and the noise is gone.
 
Thanks fellas. I'll try the tape solution and see if that works. If not, then I guess it's to the stealership I go. This is an odd problem, never had an issue with any vehicle I've owned that had folding seats.

I've had my '06 SR5 for about 3 weeks now, and had this same problem start about 10 days ago. For me its when turning left into my drive... So, after seeing this thread, I tried the tape trick, and it worked! Now that I know what the problem is I can go start harrassing my dealer. Thanks!

Holy Cow. I thought it was just me too. I got a brand new 06 with less thant 300 miles on it. I heard some noise coming from the rear right side too a couple of times when making a right turn. I have not been able to replicate the sound but will try to see if isn't related to the latch when I can replicate it again.

So many people seem to have the same problem. How come this isn't on the TSB?

It is. TSB number NV003R-04 applies for all 4Runners from 2003 through 2006.

Yup, had the same creaking for a couple days now - glad this forum exists to share everyone's experiences.

I'm going with the tape route - the actual Toyota TSB asks the technician to literally widen two holes from the striker. Don't know about you, but tape seems a bit easier to me...

You can read this particular TSB (as well as all others) from this AllData Website . Just do a browser search on "NV003R-04" and it'll take you to that specific issue.

Count me in! I thought I'm screwed with this purchase. 3 days after I bought it, I started to hear rattling and creaking sound at the rear right passenger side. Didn't had the chance to take it to the dealership on a weekday (since they only attend warranty issues on a weekday). I am positive that this has something to do with a loose seat latch.

The metal to metal sound gets really annoying everytime you hit bumps and potholes (which is a lot in Wilshire Blvd.- BTW WTF did our taxes go???).

I took my 4R to the dealership and blamed the metal to metal rattling sound to my subwoofer box behind the rear seat. Duh!!!

Sorry guys, I'm just steaming out my frustration. But I'm taking this back to the dealership and insist on fixing this annoying sound.
 
Same thing here. I figured out what it was though, but haven't fixed it yet. I'll have to try the tape thing.

R u not taking your car to the dealership and have them handle it themselves I suppose to putting a tape? have a TSB print out and take it to dealer's service dept.

I don't think I'm going to take it to the dealership for this, its not that big of a problem. The least amount ofr times my vehicles see a dealership service department the better off I'll be. Unless its something major lots of times the dealers do more harm than good.

I had that creaking problem addressed by the dealership. The TSB was very helpful. PLUS they will reimburse my gasoline expense since I went back and forth to the dealership 2x. AND free oil change, AND 10% discount on my purchase I make in the dealership (excluding cars of course).

Anyways, I am glad that it finally wasn't making any annoying sound.
 
I took mine in to the Toyota dealer, and told them I knew the issue was covered on a TSB... NV003R-04. They fixed it, and I havn't had the problem since...
