when ever the truck is on and the fan kicks on in the engine compartment a creaking or crackling sound seems to be coming out of the glove compartment area I thought it was the air bag warning sticker touching up against the plastic but that was not it. It's a kinda of a plastic piece touching something vibrating in the glove box it's not to bad but annoying Please help!!

I had the same thing happen when I took my air filter out and a tiny piece of a leaf got caught under the reinserted filter. I took the filter out several times before sticking my hand in there and feeling for annnything that might be in there. Give it a shot, and hopefully your fix is as easy as mine turned out to be!

pulled out filter and checked inside with flash light but nothing it's coming from under the glove compartment where the foot light is any ideas out there????

Figured I post this up as a possible location of this rattle:

I've had the same rattle near the glove box since I picked up the 4Runner. I haven't had a lot of time to drive it so it hasn't been anything I thought about until last night. On the way back from the store I had the GF drive and I searched for the source. I think I found the source under the passenger side under-dash cover. There is a large bundle of wires that are running under the dash that goes though a plastic/rubber grommet into the firewall. I found that putting pressure on the bundle caused the rattle/buzzing to stop. Haven't had time to come up with a permanent fix and test it but hopefully it gives some folks a place to start.

Are you sure it's coming from the glovebox? The only reason I ask is because I have a rattle too and it's from the front passenger seat - the hard plastic part on the side of the seat that has the power seat controls. Something inside of that rattles...all the time. Don't know what to do to fix it either.

Just thought I'd mention that, maybe that's what you're hearing, maybe not.

That is an easy fix. Mine vibrated a little too. I just pulled off the plastic cover and put some foam tape in a couple spots and it disappeared. This other rattle is below and behind the glove box.

Rattle

You are all Right sometimes it seems to be coming out from under the glove box and other time it's coming from the front passengers seat!!! who ever take it apart first take picture!

creaking sound from under dash board

Took the truck into the dealership today and of course the sound was not there and there is no TSB according to them!!!! can someone help!!!

I have an appt for friday for this same issue, anyone able to get more info on the TSB? The rattle drives me nuts since my commute is all local and on some lousy roadwork every morning...hope they can figure it out.

Maybe the powers that be can make a sticky for ANY/ALL TSB's that get issued for ALL generations of the T4R? That way all one has to do is look at the sticky to see if any fixes exist for a specific problem they might be having with their T4R.

Just my .02! :thumb3:

clicking sound

it sounds like a plastic on plastic clicking sound and of course when I took the truck in for service it did not make the sound there is some kind of motor under the glove box and when that comes on sometimes the sound comes back and OF COURSE there is no TSB according to them but the sound is getting to be annoying considering what we payed for these trucks but at the end I still love my truck.
