Credit card Purchases

well i got kicked out of 2 stores so far for telling them that they were not allowed to do the minimum thing. Does anybody know the correct number to call?

Did you use a Visa or MC??

EDIT: Try this general number - 1-800-MasterCard (1-800-627-8372). I looked on the site that I used before and all there was was a web form. They must have removed the direct phone number...Be prepared to give them the name of the merchant, date of incident, address and phone number of the merchant. They are pretty thorough. They will then give you a number that corresponds to your complaint.

amex cards has no spending limited. the one i have amex business card dont. the amount of the limited is to how good your credit it but everything you purchase on it you have to pay back ever Penny when the bill come and a lot of places dont accept amex cause the fee is really high on them!. every time a credit card or debit card is swipe it cost the merchant a fix rate and a percent of the total amount. That why some small business dont accept plastic if you're just making a small purchase like $5 to $10..

If you were a small merchant and you lost money on a sale because some people won't even carry a few bucks cash, you would get pissed too.

As far as buying a vehicle with plastic, I would think you would be better off negotiating a lower price paid by loan or cash. In the end, it's the buyer who pays the credit card fees.

They don't have to accept credit cards, that is their right. It is also a consumer's right to not shop there :D Credit cards have added security over cash money and those who use them instead of cash are better protected. If you lose 500 dollars cash, you are out 500 dollars PERIOD. Also, I didn't pay any fees to put my down payment on my Amex and I got a great deal on the car- in fact, better than people I know who paid for their cars in full with a bank check. Credit card fees are just a cost of doing business and should not be directed at the consumer...My father bought hid 05 Tundra on an Amex and I can assure you the tax write-off by doing that outweighed any fees incurred by using the card.

EDIT: I do recognize your point though that eventually companies will redirect their burden of fees back to the consumer. That's just capitalism and greed at its best!

I don't think it's capitalism and greed as much as having to have to recover business costs. Every time you buy something from a store you pay for the credit card fees, the employee's pay, the electric bill, etc.

Right, sometimes the protection credit cards provide are worth the extra $ over cash. Sometimes not. When I bought tires for my 4Runner recently I saved $25 paying cash. I know the manager and had done business there before.

consider a store taking a credit card as a privilage given to them by the credit card company ie visa or MC. However, they have rules to follow in order to not make visa or MC look bad. One happens to be that they can not have a minimum on a purchase. If the Merchant/store doenst like that aspect, they should not have signed a contract to accept those cards. And they cant just do it anyways.

and tom haney: i did try and use my Visa for some chocolate milk which was about $1.69 and he had a "$3.00 min."

So how do they charge you a fee at Taco Bell?? Or is it ok to charge a fee for debit purchases and not credit purchases??

I always wondered if this was really legal that they could do that? im sure it is if a big place like them is doing it, but I no longer go to Taco Bell because I use my debit card for everything.
Also one time i left it there and remembered and went back the next morning and they said they didnt have it, it ended up with fraudulent charges on it and a friend told me the same thing happened after he lost his card and the last place he used his was taco bell and so they musta taken it.
I know the last part of that had nothing to do with this post, but is just one half the reason I never go to Taco Bell anymore.
none of the other fast food places charge to use a card.

Thank god 7eleven doesnt have a minimum charge or charge you to use a debit card, I buy a 1.09 super big gulp like 3 times a week on my card.

You should have drank the milk, left your cc number and walked out. I bet you the charge would have appeared on your next bill:D

You are completely right, they should follow the agreement. It just shows you how many businesses lack integrity...

The first complaint I made was against Taco Bell!! It is funny though because not all Taco Bells her in LV charge. And one Dairy Queen I like to go to does, but not the other ones

I bought a 50 cent item one time from 7 Eleven once w/my debit card too!

Yea he would have charged it along with some other charges too im sure. This guy was pissed, yelling and cussing at me when i told him what he was doing was not allowed by the contract he held with visa. He screamed that he had been open for 2 years and never had a problem. Then he snatched the milk out of my hands still cussing at me. then he basically told me to get the hell out of his store. I didnt want to say anything else because i was worried there would be a gun coming out from under the counter eventually. And if your not suppose to cry over spilt milk im certainly not willing to get shot either . . .

Wow...All I can say is wow...

I mentioned this to my local White Hen. He said to "Get the fuck out of my store" Needless to say, I won't be going there again. If you can't treat your customer well, then you shouldn't be in business. Also regarding buying a car with a card. There is card that have unlimited balances, but has alot of APR, right now Visa offers 0% APR on transfered balances for life, until December 2008, then you must make 2 purchases each month, no minimum, so you could buy 2 packs of gum. Or just do what we did. We got 17,500 for our '01 Sienna and financed the rest for 5 years with no interest.

Yea, I saw, I meant to reply as a quote to you, thats what made me remember that when I read that.

EDIT: I guess I did quote it to you when I looked back, I was basically just agreeing with you as I hate Taco Bell because of that.
