Creeping Up On 30,000 Service...

I am extremely close to needing the 30,000 service for my 2006 4Runner V6 4X4 SR5. I called my local stealer and they quoted me at $500 for the service (I laughed, inside). So I searched the forum and have compiled a list of the services that most think really need to be done. Here's what I've got so far:

- Normal Oil Change
- Rotate Tires
- Lubricate Propeller Shaft
- Retorque Propeller Shaft Bolt
- Replace Engine and Cabin Air Filters
- Change the Spark Plugs
- Inspect Fluids (Should I really say this?)

I am wondering about another thing that some had said they had done for their 30K service. It's changing the front and rear differential fluids and the transfer case fluid. Is this really necessary? I do not tow nor do I offroad. However, a few months ago I went to take my truck out of 4 wheel drive while turning (noob mistake) and my truck made some grinding noise. So perhaps I should indeed have them change these fluids? As always, any input is greatly appreciated guys. I'm hoping to save some $ by just telling them what to do these services instead of saying "give me the 30K service".

Don't forget to change the spark plugs. According to the maintenance guide/schedule, the plugs are changed at 30k for the V6. There is a footnote saying it's for the emissions warranty or something or other. That and just a bunch of hose and line inspections, etc. blah blah.

Thanks Dingo. I toally forgot to put down to change the sparkplugs in my post. I have it written down on my list that I have compiled. What do you think about replacing the front/rear differential fluid and the transfer case fluid?
 
Called the stealer this morning. I told them I want the following services to be done:

- Tire Rotation
- Lubricate Propeller Shaft
- Re-torque Propeller Shaft Bolt
- Replace Engine and Cabin Air Filters
- Replace Spark Plugs
- Top Off Fluids
- Change Front and Read Diff. Fluids and Transfer Case Fluids

They quoted me at ~$275.00 which I don't think is all that bad considering they quoted me at over $500.00 for their "30,000 Mile Service". I think I am also going to have them inspect the popping noise that the radio makes on FM stations. I printed out the TSB for it, do you guys think I should show them the TSB? I have a feeling they will just say, "We didn't hear anything".

I feel like I'm having a conversation with myself. Anyone out there?

radio popping noise

I'm getting the same popping noise from my '06 T4R.
I just bought mine two weeks ago from Carmax with 29K miles and it's a very subtle static pop noise that occurs while listening to the radio (subtle but it drives me crazy!)
Please send me the TSB if you have it. I'm about to take mine in for the 30K service and will DEFINITELY mention the popping noise.

This list looks good, engine oil change? Both air filters are really easy DIY if you want to drop the price a bit more.

I'd love that TSB on the radio issue too if you don't mind. Thanks!

Thanks for your response. I didn't get an oil change because it's not due for another one for about 1,000 more miles. I did get everything done at that list. In regards to the TSB for the radio popping noise, I'll tell you the same thing I told dpmredwing via private message. I am at work right now adn the shortcut to the TSB is on my laptop at home. I will send you the TSB once I get home from work tonight. The dealer ordered me a new radio and I am having it installed this upcoming week under warranty.

You got a good deal. The only thing not included in your list was wheel Alignment and the stealer charge me $$$980.00...

OMG!!! That's insane!!!!! I actually ended up paying only $244 total for everything listed above.
 
My dealer wants $90 to change just the cabin air filter! Im going to make a list of the services I need then talk to the local dealers to see who will get me the best price.
