Couple of thoughts I might add. Keep in mind depending on what brand kayak you are getting, fishing kayaks are considerably heavier then the sit in types. I have a Hobie Outback myself and there is no way I would want to deal with loading that thing on the roof. About to get another Hobie Pro Angler and that again would be terrible by myself. After a long hot day on the water I wouldn't want to deal with that.

Have you considered a small trailer? I modified a small Jon Boat trailer and it works great and so easy to load. Going to modify it to carry both soon. I also just leave my yaks on the trailer for storage.

Thanks for the input, but I'm going to buy a paddle type "sit on top". I'm pretty sure that they aren't as heavy as the peddle type.

Thats a no for me dog. Just checked out your link and it looks like a total pain in the ass for a questionable mod. Cut the antenna?! Nope.

How about just don't buy the crappy OEM crossbars? Problem solved.

If you have a 2010-2015 you would replace it with a OEM toyota camry or corolla antenna, nothing questionable about it. I just glanced at his signature and say the 2010 SR5. I didnt notice he had traded it.

I only mentioned it because I agree that the shark fin does occasionally get in the way and for some people it is an easy swap.

As far as crossbars go, I recommend LFD. love mine. My 14' Hobie Odyssey does great up there
