Crossbars for sport edition rack?

Hey all, I've been searching for some crossbars that will work on my sport edition roof rails. Every one I look at says it won't work on round tube rails.

Anyone have any info or links?:yo:

Do you not have the OEM crossbars? I've never looked into seeing if the SR5 crossbars would fit (with or without modification).

I do have them. I'm planning on putting a hardshell tent on top of my rig and need to have it wider.

Some uni-strut plus some appropriate pipe-holding clamps may make some very beefy DIY crossbars. The photos are to give you ideas. This was a guy parked near the trailhead at Linville Gorge a few weeks ago.

That's a crazy good deal on Thule rack, although it looks like the crossroad feet pack are designed to use the square bars and not the areo bars.

Do you happen to know offhand which feetpack supports the Aerobars and sport rack? Or do the 450 support the aero bars?

Yep I linked the wrong ones, the one you want for the Aero Bars are the Rapid Crossroads footpads, not the plain Crossroads footpads, I'll edit my post for clarity

Decided to go the DIY route. Picked up 6 ubolts and 3 4' long rectangle steel and did some measuring and cutting. Here's what I have planned. I'll post up finished product when l get them done.

Just keep in mind the 150lb weight limit on the factory rack. I've had a rack rip off a vehicle before, and wouldn't want to see it again

The factory rack has been proven to support RTTs by members here.
Most tents way less than 125lb so it (shouldn't) be a problem.
Interested to see how your setup looks/works as I am caught in a similar situation.

That is the weight limit for the factory cross-bars. The Sport Edition roof rack (the round tubes that go the length of the vehicle) can support much more than 150#. I have a Rola rack mounted to my factory rails and have stood on the rack.

The Thule 450 Crossroad feet do not fit the Tubular roof rails on my 2007 Sport. They are close, but not close enough.

I'm wondering if Yakima has anything that would allow for attaching cross bars to the tubular roof rails.

The U-bolt solutions you guys posted look good, and I will probably go that route, but it would be cool to find something with locks.

I recently changed out my standard SR5 roof rack on my 2004 to a sport edition roof rack off a 2008.

My initial plan was to use my cross bars from the original SR5 rack so I could have 4 supports. Unfortunately, the SR5 cross bars are wider than the sport edition cross bars and will not fit.

Depending on your area maybe CL is a good option? That’s where I found mine for a great price, and the guy was even a member here. Score!

I just trimmed off an inch to fit the wider cross bars of the sr5 rack
