Crowdsourcing Bumper Decision: Alum vs Steel For Slimlines

I'm in on the group buy for the C4 Fab lo-pro bumper and Caleb has been good enough to offer me a chance to wait until this summer and opt for an upcoming aluminum version.
The steel version weighs 70lbs and our guesstimate has the aluminum weighing half that.

My question to the pros on this board - is a 35lb weight saving worth the wait and extra expense?
The only additional front end weight I plan for is a heavier battery and perhaps bigger alternator down the road.

My vote is no, 35lbs is not worth the strength savings for what I do, which is wheeling in rocks and in and out of trees. I assume you do close to that in Colorado.

If I was building a desert truck I would go all aluminum if I could, if I needed the protection.

IMO no. Maybe if it was a full front bumper and the weight difference was significant, but for the additional cost and if your not penny pinching pounds I would just stick with the steel.

I'm currently in the same boat. I like that it weighs less, but I also like that aluminum is more corrosion resistant now that I'm actively watching the screw holes on my steel rock sliders rust.

The price difference has me hesitating a bit though.

I will wait for the aluminum.....it all adds up and these trucks are slow enough!

Aluminum for sure, every pound counts. Think about it, if you were looking for hardcore rock crawling protection you would have went with a full steel bumper to begin with
