Cruise Control issue on 2010 TE

I have read a few threads in past about acceleration run-on when resuming speed. Long story short, the vehicle will race past the preset speed by as much as 5 mph and then settle down to the preset.

Ist there a fix for it or a TSB?, it is quite un-nerving at times running up on people in front of you by going 5 mph faster than intended. Especially hairy on curvy mountain road

We are going to the dealer today for scheduled maint and were wondering what to reference if there was a TSB on it

I thought it's quite normal for cruise control in mountain roads, as least number of my previous Fords were acting the same way, maybe a little bit more unpredictable on hilly roads. I acquired a habbit not to use Cruise control on curvy mountain roads, when slippery and in traffic. Maybe it's just me though.

That's pretty standard for cruise controls for every one I have used. Vehicles with a manual transmission are even worse for this - at least an automatic can gear down on its own.

yeah I think its pretty much standard. On hills and what not, if the cruise control stopped accelerating at the set speed, then it would constantly be down-shifting to get back up to the set speed. With it going 5-mph faster, it will allow more time before it down-shifts again.

I myself prefer not to use cruise control when going up hill for this reason. I'd rather just manually put it in 4th gear or whichever is next down and keep it there rather than having Cruise control change gears every minute. It's not good on the transmissions to keep shifting.

I hardly use cruise control though, I find it pretty easy to regulate the shifting using "so much pressure" on the gas pedal.

I've experienced the same thing while using cruise control on hilly highways with ALL of the vehicles I've had - American and Japanese! :lookout:
