Cruise Control on 22re?

My 87 seems to have a cruise control partially installed. There's a black stalk on the left side of the steerting column and there's a control cable disconnected from the throttle.

Any idea what it is?
Can I get it working again?

On the other hand...
Can anyone recommend a cruise control to install on my 4Runner?

i would think youd be able to pull the entire assembly from a 2nd gen runner and hook it up and it would work. but i could be wrong, i would love to have cruise on mine... thats about the only option thats not on my truck

I installed an aftermarket Audiovox cruise control on my motorcycle several years ago and love it. So a few years ago when the same model cruise control was on closeout at Autozone I picked one up and it's still on the shelf. May install it on the 4Runner soon.

My BIL may be able to help out with the 2nd Gen option. We'll see.

Factory cruise had a button on the right of the dash, direct right of the steering column. There is also controls on the right side multi switch (the one with the wiper control).
