Cruise Control problems 95

1995 4runner. When you turn the cruise on the light comes on. You can push buttons on the right side of the steering wheel and get the cruise to engage. From that point forward, its like riding a bucking bull. Any ideas or suggestions, please.
Thanks

I have a 92 that does the same thing or at least something like that. When engaging the cruise it jerks like it is trying to engage and then lets go then does it again very quickly and it does that over and over until it is turned off.
Since the cruise is handled by the transmission on these models my guess is it is a sensor in the transmission, but it would be good if someone who knows can respond. In my case I just never turn it on.

I haven't noticed it shifting gears. I is sometimes staying in 3rd gear instead of 4th. I just runs like it is running out of gas.

hmm, i wish i could help but i've never encountered this problem. deffinately sound electrical though. my guess is a short or burnt wire somewhere in the mix of your cruise and ignition wiring under your steering columb.. i'd say that'd be your best place to start.

I have this problem i think i may have figured it out. Check your brake switch, mine would buck when i would be in cruise control. if i put my foot under the break pedal and lift it wouldint do it anymore so i think its the brake switch i picked one up at a wrecking yard for 5 bucks ill post if it solved the problem. You can also try to adjust it.

Well the brake switch worked so replace it or adjust it. I tried to adjusting mine but it still did it. i think its a two way switch because my brake lights still worked. Now everything is ok.
