Cruise control Surging

Hi,
I have a 95 3.0 liter T4R and new here. I've have read a ton of info so far which has been of great help. I have used the search function for my related problem but have found nothing so far. I've been having cruise control issues and not sure what to make of it. The cruise control works as it should with the exception that it surges while on. I will set it at the speed I want and it will stay pretty close to that speed but it surges meaning that it almost jerks as I'm driving down the road. Almost like letting off the accelerator and stomping on it rapidly. Like I mentioned before hand, it works as it should but with the surging it does I prefer not to use it as it's uncomfortable. I'm a big cc guy when on trips and open highways with little traffic and this is actually starting to be a headache. Any help is much appreciated! Thanks....

Mmmmm, my odometer cable is getting kind of jumpy.... I bet that's what is making my cc surge like it is. Didn't think of that. I've read the posts on lubing the cable but still am unclear of the best way to get to the cable and get it out of the back of the cluster. Is there an easier way to get to the cable or do I need to take part of the dash and cluster out?

Speedometer lube

For those of you that have lubed your odometer cable, what kind of lube seemed to work best? I have some teflon based spray I was going to use. I've read different different types have been used but wondering what people have had the best luck with. Thanks!
