Crux SWRTY-61J

I did a search and saw nothing on this, but I'm curious if anyones used it.

I have a 2007 Limited V8 - with the factory Nav and JBL Synthesis system (I believe)

Essentially, I'm getting ready to replace my headunit, and I'm doing all my research on what parts I'll need to successfully get the outcome I want. I'm gonna go with the Pioneer AppRadio 4 (SPH-DA120)... I realize it's an older unit and it's been succeeded by the Pioneer MVH-1400NEX , but the 1400 lacks an HDMI port which is what I want (totally not bc I'm gonna watch movies while I drive... thats illegal) olice:

The main issue I was running into was figuring out what wiring harness I needed to use, while also retaining my factory steering wheel controls and factory backup camera. I'm trying to do my whole conversion for under $500 and I'm not really interested in spending the money on idatalink

I spoke to a guy at Crutchfield and he told me to get: Crux SWRTY-61J
Supposedly this (along with VIM bypass...again its illegal to watch videos while driving...I'm not doing that), is everything I need to wire up my new unit while retaining the factory JBL Amp/Speakers/SWC/Backup Camera.

SO has anyone used this? any feedback I can get? I know there have been debates over Metra and PAC so I thought I'd put this in the mix.

I installed that crux unit with my pioneer avh head unit. Works fine with the steering wheel controls. Works even better with pioneers latest firmware update.

Make sure you check your firmware rev #'s and update if it's available

Just out of curiosity, did you use the SWRTY-61J (if you remember), or another Crux model? Do you have the JBL Synthesis system?

I only ask bc there was some confusion on the part numbers when referencing Crutchfield, SonicElectronixx, and the Crux website. The 61J is the correct listed part based on the Crux website, however it's different part numbers on:

Crutchfield - CS-TJ20 (which doesn't show up at all on the Crux site)

SonicElectronix - Listed as the SWRTY-61J but the model looks different

I used SWRTY-61S, but my runner had a non JBL system. The J model is for the JBL system, and I guess keeps the jbl amps active.


I used Crutchfield for the head and peripherals, they got it right.

You need to decide if you are going to keep any of the jbl equipment in and on for your new install. As your choices will dictate the needed peripherals.

Any update FlashRunner? I have the PAC unit which makes the audio system much worse then OEM so looking to change to one that hopefully works better.
