im planing to buy the alternator very soon. i have read some other threads about this. noticed there were different cs144 models and people that used different ones. saw some using the cadillac one with windshield heater option on it. why would that matter?

basically could i just ask someone to help and tell me the vehicle models that i need to look up to buy? also just the one thats recommended to use that works best. i notice there are different clocking for the plug etc.

found this to be similar to one i saw on a thread here. wonder if this will work?

looks to be a good price and wondering if it will work.

doing the upgrade on a 2000 4runner 4wd 3.4l.
reason for upgrade: powering 2- alpine v-12 car audio amplifiers, 22" led light bar, 2- led spot lights, 2- led bumper flood lights, and soon to be powering xrc8 winch. i currently have 1- optima redtop battery.

I've done this upgrade a long time ago. I believe I got the alt. from a 95 caddy fleet wood. Whatever one is rated 90amp idle and 150 full output. I got mine from autozone along with the pigtail. The only thing I found a little tricky was getting the right spacing to make the actual alternator bolt onto the braket that then mounts to the block. It's best to take the braket from the block so you can play around and fill in the spacing between the alternator with either a nice big nut or some washers. I made an awesome video on the whole shpeel but my iPad decided to not record audio. There is also the problem of the stock tensioner topping out and not getting tight enough. Again, I'm made my own tensioner. It's really quite easy, just take your time, think things through and shit, pm me if you like.

thanks very much. thats probably what to look for in specific models is the idle amps and higher rpm amps. guess ill go with the fleetwood and pigtail. and i also saw where to get a smaller belt.

I have the cs144 and a supercharger with the dynamic tensioner and I didn't need a smaller belt, I think you would be fine if you have the dynamic tensioner.

i did wonder about that too. thanks for that info. i have the dynamic as well.

If you check out my vendor thread you will find I have the exact system that you need. I can provide you with an alternator that bolts directly into the place of your factory alternator. It connects right up to your factory wiring with NO modifications needed. I can get alternators as high as 250A output. Plus I have a full electrical power system upgrade to go with the higher output alternators. The factory alternator wires cannot properly handle the higher output of the larger alternators. A typical 130A alternator output requires 4 gauge cabling. The factory charge cable on the 3.4L engine is only 8 gauge. This causes dangerous overheating issues. Check out my system and let me know what you think!

when do you start the stereo project?

soon hopefully. just have alot going on. ill be doing the x2 polk audio 10" subs in the rear sides in cutom enclosures. i did just order the new 2013 infinity components by harmen for the doors and moving my door focal components to the rear. as far as the head unit, im thinking of doing the sony with app remote functionality. that will allow my samsung galaxy note 8" to sync with the head unit. then ill customize the dash radion bezel to flush the tablet as seen on one of the threads u were on while ago where someone posted similar to what im doing. that project will be after i get my URD 7th injector installed as well as my upper control arms first on list. i did by the way call the truck shop and they are selling me the UCA's for 550 out the door!
