Do be aware that the cupholder is not solid on the inside, and the perimeters are about 1.2mm in thickness. After that you will encounter a wireframe like structure.

Received my cup holder insert in the mail today. I ordered mine with both openings the smaller diameter. Drops right in with a nice solid interference fit. Will update after some real world testing. Thanks @circiondesign, nice work young man.
I got mine today and it looks great. For ideas on upgrades - not sure if it's feasible given the space constraints but it would be nice if there was a spot to mount a USB plug. Lots of folks with older 4Runners have upgraded stereos with USB/Smartphone connections, or added charging ports. Since the holder has a spot for the phone, being able to run the USB port there would keep the wires all neat. I don't see an obvious spot to add it, though.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't think there would be any good way to bring usb charging to the cupholder. Majority of people enjoy the simplicity, which may definitely be the selling point of this cupholder.
However, for those that are willing to work with wires, I'd love to hear your opinion on a cupholder with heat cell at the bottom of the cupholder.
Essentially you would plug in the wire coming from the cupholder(a complete filler of the compartment in this version) into either the 12v cigarrete lighter, or wire it to the wires next to the gearbox.
When turned on, it would either heat up the metal piece at the bottom, or heat it around the cup, haven't done any designs on it yet, but would love to hear your guys' opinions on it.
