First off, since this is my first post, I'll go ahead and take this time to introduce myself, name's Paul. I'm a ASE Certified Master Technician currently working at a Toyota Dealership in California. I have wanted a 4th Gen 4Runner for a long long time and finally the time came to step up, picked up my '04 4Runner this last Sunday. Its a SR5, V8, with the nice all-time 4WD in black with the limited wheels.
Now that's out of the way, the real reason for this post:
So I was looking through our parts fiche at the dealership and haven't found anything for our 4Runners or Tacomas that come with the non-functional hood-scoop. It always bothered me that they never utilized the scoop since it seems like it would be a nice idea.
Has anyone on the forums come across a company or member who has made a custom airbox/routing to run the intake from the scoop to the throttle body? I would think this would make a nice intermediate between stock intake and a snorkel for those who don't want to cut a hole in their fender and such.
Thanks for any input or ideas, when I have time (which is seems will be stretched thin for a while lol) I could try and draw up some designs if no one has tried this yet.
