Current full length roof racks?

With the curve of the roof the distance to the bottom of the cross members ranges from 1" to 1-1/2". Distance to the top of the cross members is 2" to 2-1/2". The distance from side to side is 47".

With the awning I was only able to use the top channel for mounting. I also couldn't mount is flat against the side due to how the cross members mount. I ended up spacing it out some with nylon spacers, and used 8 bolts to hold it in place.

Are the cross members actually flush with the edge of the rack? For roof top tenting purposes.

If you do have a roof top tent, you'll find that accessing the zipper is a BIG pain in the butt having the awning so tight. If you don't though, it's not an
issue.

I don't have an RTT. I've got a pretty nice sleeping setup inside that works for us. The only thing on the rack now is the awning, but I'm sure I'll have some other items on top once our departure gets closer.

The rails sit about 1/8" to 1/4" below, but these were more or less designed to work with the RTT's.

that is a good looking rack. I have always been a fan of flat racks. Do you know if he is going to be adding the 3rd gen to his regular product line up? Do you know if he is going to make a full length version?

The 3/4 should be on the site shortly. He's working on a full length that should be out in the spring. The problem is trying to figure out a way to attach the front without having to drill a hole in the roof.

Could you post a profile shot that better shows how far off of the roof it is, and how it mounts to the factory rails?

You pop off front or rear end caps, remove all the factory cross members and hardware then slide the bottom stud plates in, two on each side. The rack has feet that line up to them and once tightened down with a 1/2" wrench it sinches down on the factory rails so that it won't move. Everything required for mounting is included, as long as you have factory rails.

I've had over 600lbs on my first rack that did not have front support feet. That's me at 200lbs standing on the front and two friends on the rest. I just have the front support feet as added insurance in case someone wants to put a large tire or something up front and hit some jumps.

The rack sits as low as possible without interfering with sunroof operation.

Anyways, I feel bad for Whitson, i think hes a great dude, amazing fabricator. I own his 3/4 rack and its very good quality. He actually even let me do payments every week little by little so I could own his roof rack. I feel like Gobi is being ....... Its not fair!

Looking forward to seeing new roof racks. And clearly, watch out for GOBI or they might sue you. I don't see a reason to support a company who is selfish and jelous of a one man.

Agreed, I will never buy a Gobi product. The WMR was awesome.
