OK I have an 08 4Runner and have read a bunch of threads. I don't want to cut my bumper, so I am getting an aftermarket hitch that puts the inlet below the stock non-trailer hitch bumper. I have found the Curt on eBay and am ready to make my purchase when two different versions with the same model #13445 show up. One is the Curt model with the square cross tube. Now I see a Curt model 13445 that also lists the manufacturer as U-Haul. What gives??? It is shown as having a round cross tube?? It looks like a Hidden Hitch. Any help is appreciated.

Got it yesterday. $153 delivered. It is a round tube that has sealed ends, not open like some other square and round tube crossmembers. It took seriously 15 minutes to install. You can bend the bracket for the plug in after you have installed the hitch. Too easy, what's next??? Toytec 2.5 front spacers and FJ struts and springs(donated):hungry:

Same thing done, didn't want to cut the bumper so went with the curt aftermarket. Took (me) 35 min to install because I did not have the extension I needed for the bolt on the muffler so I had to do some serious wedging to tighten. I've pulled a 17 ' runabout and my own loaded 6x10 trailer, and it has performed flawlessly. Biggest issue was the wire harness...where did/are you mounting yours?:shrug:

For the moment I just bent the flange on the plug to angle down so I can get the trailer plug connected. I plan to unbolt the recepticle from the frame, Unplug it from the harness, take it in to my garage and lengthen the wires. Then I will find a better mount place for it closer tp the receiver of the hitch. Yes I will get pictures as soon as I am done.

I just installed my Curt hitch and love the way it looks.:jump: Those bolts around the exhaust were a bit of a pain:bash:, and I also bent the flange on the trailer plug down. It took me about 45 minutes. The trailers I tow take the 5 plug wiring harness, does anybody have a link for what adaptor I need?:shrug:

I was thinking about the hidden hitch but your Curt hitch looks sweet.

I looked at hitches a long time before deciding, and I am happy w/ this one. It has a very clean and nice appearance, plus there is a "little step" on the top part that some don't have. It has held up very well also!
