Custom center console organizer

I am looking into adding a light in the center console. It's just too dark at night time to see the inside.

Gecko, great idea.
You could probably mount a small LED cluster in the console lid....above the CD holder, and install a contact switch that automatically triggers when you open up.

Mine is still a black hole, but what I did was that I got a canvas grocery bag and put everything in it, and then put that grocery bag in the console. At least now I don't have to "dig" through the console, instead I just pull the bag out and dig through that which is a little bit easier.

Thinking of making a wooden tray, though.

Lol that works too. What would making a wooden divider look like as far as fabrication goes? A piece of wood wedged tightly in the middle or what?

No, you're talking about a vertical divider, what I would want would be more of a horizontal divider: A tray that is the same size as the inside of the console but has legs on it maybe 3" long or so, that would divide the console horizontally, and then have a handle to lift it out when I need to access the area underneath it.

That way the smaller items (the things that fall to the bottom of the console and that you have to dig out) could go in the upper tray, while the bigger items could sit underneath.

If you had this fancy pansy divider thingy and everything was neatly organized, you wouldn't be able to dig in the center console for gum while doing 75mph on the left lane and swerve all over the place and freak people out. Where's the fun in that? This organizer sounds boring.
