I spent the good part of 60-80 hrs coming up with the design and fabrication. I essentially used a good part of the Roger Brown (4Crawler) design and made some modifications. I used 3/16 boxed tubing all around-a bit overkill I know. The rear piece of the outside bar has a notch (rear door) allowing maximum ground clearance. I used three brackets which were welded to 1/4 4"x4" plate with 4 bolts connecting each bracket to the frame (16 bolts altogether). The sliders are more than capable of supporting the entire weight of the vehicle.
The sliders are comprised of two 2"x2" rails (one underneith the bottom edge of the vehicle and the other just on the outside of the vehicle) connected by 4 1 1/2"x1 1/2" boxed tubing (15 degree rise for wrap around protection).
I also added a removable step (pics to come) for the wife (have to keep her happy). Two bolts on each side taking 5-7 minutes to install or remove.
POR-15 paint and POR Chasis paint was used (two coats each). One inch 3M rubber grip tape was used on the slider and 1/2 inch grip tape was used on the removable step.

After all the work I put into these things I'm more than happy with them. The general Roger Brown design is a good one. For what he wants for them ($300-$400 shipped to your door) they're an absolute steal!!! Kudo's to RB!!! He can be reached at:
