Custom skid plate.

Here are some pics of a skid plate I built for my 4r. I also made 2 for some FJs of my family's. I made them out of 3/16 sheet steel. I dimpled the holes and also put a 3/16 plate behind the Toyota.

Nice looking skids! They should hold up well too being 3/16" and dimpled. Good job! I wouldn't be surprised if you get a few requests to make more!

Yup looks sick, PM me if your interested in building me one haha

**Edit Have you thought about extending the length to cover the radiator? Or are there no good mounting locations that far up?

I like that! Any plans to build a second piece to cover the tranny/t-case? I'm shopping for skid plates! :D

Ya I have plans to do a five piece set to cover every thing. Never thought about trying to cover the rad. The thing is I work for a bad ass fab shop and can do all of it my self, but if I try to make then with there equipment and sell then to others they might not like that. I need to talk to the owner. I would love to make then for all the t4r owners. I'm afraid that if I made then for sale I would have to charge around $150 or more, because I get it all at cost but they would want full price for the laser time, bend time, prep and powder coat. When I was looking I saw the bud built ones but the looked strong but so boring. So I decided to make one that was strong but good looking. I'll post a pick when I get back in town of it on the rig. I'll see what I can do. No promises.

I would totally be interested in getting this if you plan on making more!!! And if you have to charge more that's fine. These are one of kind and look great!

One comment I have on your rockin design... I'm no machinist but it appears to me the amount of metal holding the center of the Os and the A in place would be likely to let loose after a while?

No there is a hole in the center of all three that was taped for all thread and then welded to them. I then drilled the backing plate and put a nut on the back of all three. Trust me it's good.

Would love to have one in Stainless.

BTW: The Toyota bling plate is over $100, aluminum and it does nothing. So your estimate is low.

Here are some pics of it on the rig. Sorry for the not so good pics.

There powder coated so u wouldn't have to worry about rusting any more than u would the frame or other under carriage parts.
The price is just an estimate I still have to figure out what a good number would be. I think the front skid from bud build is just under $200.

That's what I figured, I just couldn't tell from the pics how exactly they were attached. Once mounted it looks great!!!
Would also like to see what you have in mind for the rest of the skid plates! I'd be interested in getting more than just the front most plate.
