Custom Stainless Snorkel w/ Fiberglass Fenders

I had a buddy build/design a custom snorkel out of stainless steel to accommodate my McNeil fenders for me. Love how it turned out!

It's how its done over in Australia, i drove 7 hours home. Other people kept thinking it would kill the engine, but nothing yet. It still serves the same water out of the engine aspect as the forward facing snorkel

Rig looks killer man, snorkel is way different than anything else out there. I’m thinking the sideways/rear inlet would be better than forward facing in rain/wind situation.

I believe when asking about the rear facing snorkel he was referring more to the actual intake of air, as most of them have sort of a ram air effect by facing forward.

Definitely looks nice compared to most I’ve seen. Does it have any sort of provision for draining water if it gets in the top though, such as rain?

Nice! I like the design, looks like it'll help to alleviate sucking/forcing rain in when driving down the road and pulling in spray when fording. Very functional and looks awesome.
I actually prefer the idea to pull air from behind instead of the front, seems safer that way.
Is it a real fording snorkle or more of a breather to get out of the dust?

Tires are about flush with the fenders, even you look at it from an angle at the front you can't really tell though.

That's the difference right there, some are not completely watertight and basically are just for getting cleaner air to the motor, get the intake out of the dust cloud rising off the road as much as possible.
A fording snorkle is all watertight, my army truck could go about 8 feet deep, as in I need scuba to drive it, because it had water tight snorkle as well as watertight electrical connections and an exhaust snorkle so I could cut it off underwater and not flood the motor. Everything on that truck was sealed and watertight.
Tell your buddy he did a great job with that thing!
