Custom Sub Enclosure for 4th Gen...who makes them and feedback

Hi all...

Just picked up an 04 White SR5 with 19k miles on it! I am new to the site here but very familiar with cars/audio/forums.

Anyhow, I've been looking around for a sub box that'll fit nicely on the side of the cargo area where I won't lose all my space.

So far, the two that I've found are the JL Stealthbox and the Bassforms/Viniati fiberglass sub enclosure.

I can't see spending close to $700 on the Stealthbox...although I've heard only good things about it. And I haven't heard anything on the Bassforms enclosure. Does anybody have any feedback on these boxes?

The reason I'm not putting a full sub enclosure in the back is that I am a sales rep for Pitney Bowes in Brooklyn....and lets just say that some of the parts of Brooklyn are not the best areas to be driving around a truck with a pimp setup....or at least if you still want it after 3 months lol.

anyhow, any feedback would be welcomed. if you had a custom enclosure built and the name of the builder that would make one for me, that would be awesome as well. if you could post a price that would be awesome too. if you don't want to you can PM me with what the enclosure cost to make.

I havent heard anything about either one, but I am going to get the one from bassforms this summer. I just like the look of fiberglass compared to carpet. But if your concerned about theft, I think the bassforms box looks much more flashy and expensive.

MTX has the thunderform line, but they dont make one for the 4runner. But there is a place on their website to suggest a vehicle. Some of the boxes on there look very clean. I have suggested the 4runner, but maybe with a few more interested people they will make it.

Let us know what you go with and how it works out.

Can't speak for the 4Runner, but I had the JL Audio Stealthbox with the 10W3 when I had my Jeep Grand Cherokee. Fit and finish is dead on which is to be expected from JL Audio (and you do pay for that). The sub sounded good and clean. For some bass heads this sometimes wasn't its forte, but it really did do the job well.

It a 10" Cant tell ya the volume cause I dont know....LOL He said he was a close to what Orion said as he could get for volume. I was conservitive when I wanted to put power to it so there is only 1200 watts to that. People freak when i tell them it's only a 10" speaker....LOL

Nice subwoofer setup bowtie. That looks super clean. Are you running a 4ch amp too? If so, where did you stash it? How much did your audio guy charge you to fabricate that custom enclosure?

im sure your looking for great , real powerful sound, (who isnt) but if you dont mind something less than perfect, (granted, alot less than perfect) you can have the amp mounted behind the rear side panel where the storage bin is, then have a removable bass box, or have 1 or 2 self powered bass boxes, & make them removable. if its stolen , just plug another in. i had to have mine removable for dog cages & stuff. hey, its just an idea.

The JL stealth box is a great setup... A "set it-n-forget" setup that matches well, desigend well, and sounds really good. It compliments the other 8-speakers well from the JVC amp. I powered mine with an old fosgate punch 125 (mounted in the quarter panel) and it hits very clean and isn't over bearing. I get compliments on it all the time. At one time I picked up a JL 500/1 but that was just too much for the sub. I could eventually replace it with a newer sub, but its not that serious for me.

I used to be a car installer with a killer custome system back in the day. I used two 12" solobarics and that was just stupid loud. The stealth box is a complimentary piece to your existing JVC syntheisis system.

What I enjoy most about this box is the amount of space I still have when installed! Now-a-days I'd much rather pack my trunk full of gear and not have to worry about it.
