Custom Tags Timeline?

Was curious for those of you who have custom tags, how long it took to get them.

Ordered a set the moment I got my 4Runner and the standard tags just came in. Hoping to not put them on unless I have to when the date runs out on the temp stuff, but was hoping some of you could tell me how long it took.

I know they give crazy waiting times for things, but I've always had my stuff arrive way faster here in CA than when I lived in VA, and I'm hoping that's the same for the plates, rather than the 8-12 weeks I was given.

Anyone remember how long it took to receive theirs after ordering? And do they come with the stickers as well or will I need to buy new ones? Never ordered custom plates so that's kind of new for me.

Thanks

I ordered my custom plate on 3/29 and I called a couple of weeks ago for status update and they told me it's about 4+ months wait. At the moment I still do not have my custom plate. Mine was custom letters on the black and yellow.

My concern is the local DMV only holds your plates for 30 days before distroying them and in the last couple of years when the DMV sends me letters I have a 50/50 chance of receiving it. So I'll be calling every month to make sure I don't miss the post card they send.

Oh wow. Hope that doesn't happen to me. I guess then the license plates are the one thing that aren't faster (which I somewhat suspected). My new drivers license took awhile back home, but here, came in like a week. Probably easier to produce though too.

Any word on the stickers? Know how that works? A new set come with them or do you have to buy those too?

Yeah, I was pretty surprised too.
I believe they give you the stickers. You have to go into the DMV to get the new plates and when you do you give them your old ones. Since it's at the DMV, they should just give you the month and year stickers for the new plates too. Then every year you pay an annual due added to your registration to keep the custom plates.

To me the worst part is you have to go into the DMV to get them, which means hours wasted waiting in line (at least for my area).

Yeah I'm not too fond about going in and picking them up. I believe they used to send them to you (but I could be wrong, I was young when my brother did this). Just another way for the DMV to slowly drive us all insane.
