Customizing Subwoofer Location.

Although im looking to do somthing more like this:

I want to conserve as much space as i can. Id want to have the size of the box be flush with the wheel hub, if you know what im talking about.

I made a outline on your picture of where i would put it down to.

and i would do this to both sides.

And what year is your 4runner? Because i have a good 15+ Inches between my rear door and my wheel hubs, to fit a subwoofer between them i think it could work in my year, which is a 1998 sr5. But im looking to get a 2000-2002 sport, so i hope it still works haha.

i know subwoofers have manufacturers specifications for the size of area inside the box but downs' anyone have any experience with having too much air space or not enough?...

i want to fill the entire area behind the two sets with a sub box that extends the whole width of the vehicle.

it changes the frequency of the box and changes the tone of it. also the design of it changes things as well (not only internal volume but length vs width) .

Too much airspace and the subwoofer will not be able to handle as much power before it unloads and bottoms out, too little airspace and the subwoofer won't be able to extend fully, you'll lose output at all frequencies, and it will roll off steeply on the low tones.

If you do run 2 subs opposite each other like your drawing shows, run one sub out of phase with the other so they work with each other not against.

Great suggestion, I didn't even think of that, cancellation at higher frequencies does happen when two subs are facing each other, unless you run one out of phase like he stated.

Couldn't have said it better myself man, it was only a couple years ago when I was installing my first system, it took me 10 hours to wire in a 4 channel amp and bass tube, I had no idea what I was doing, three years later I was running an 18 on 3500W and it sounded damn good dropping down into the 28Hz range at over 145Db, all off of knowledge that I gained thanks to helpful people on car audio forums.

That's what the forum is here for, spread the knowledge, I don't care if the information is already out there, a personalized answer always makes things more clear and can save a lot of headache on the other end.

Exactly! alot of places i look on other threads, i dont understand what they are talking about, or it might not be specific enough. Sometimes they talk in " a different language only a professionaly mechanic would understand" Haha

Okay, thats exactly what i want, but cut the height in half, and bring the subwoofers down at the end near the rear door!

Its somthing like this: But also maybe a tiny bit thinner, in this picture it's at the perfect height that i want. Right above the highest point of the wheel hub.

What do you mean when you say that? Do you mean not to use the same Amplifier for both of them or what?

Im seriously as new as they come to audio. I did install a 10" sub to my 1998 like i said, but i basicly had someone walk me through it since i didnt have a clue how to do any of it at the time haha...

There's a difference between a) searching for your answers first and then asking thoughtful questions based on what you learned in those searches, and b) spamming the board with silly questions looking to get spoonfed some opinions. The former is helpful and drives productive conversation, the latter clutters the board with useless threads and drives down the signal to noise ratio. In reference to the bolded bit, the "veterans of modding" that you admire don't spend their time posting walkthroughs and/or detailed posts so that they can repeat themselves for every lazy ******* that wanders through the board. A simple search on your part saves them hours of time answering the same question over and over again, making it far more likely that they'll have time to invest documenting NEW mods for you to admire. Get it?

I havent found "1" yet, that shows me 100% walkthrough with enough pictures for me to know exactly what the best deal would be, where to buy the supplies, whats the best techniques, what model grilles fit with another year 4runner. Dude. You've started 10 threads in your 36 posts. It's hard to believe you'd search with that kind of record. Take some time to absorb the knowledge that's already there BEFORE you ask the questions on opinions. I mean, when you admit that you don't know jack about the subject and are asking the MOST basic questions there are, I'm not going to take the time to explain it to you or give you my opinion because you won't understand it.

How hard did you look. It took me less than 30 seconds to find this thread. It tells you every supply that is needed, has tons of color pictures, and a good write up. I told you how to search using Google and you're still not doing it. They way I told you is exactly how I found the above link.

Like everyone else is telling you. You're going to wear out your welcome fast at this rate. There are hundreds of thread about everything you're asking. Rather than starting a brand new thread asking the same stuff over. You should post on a thread that is already started so you don't clutter up the board. It's going to get to the point where your threads are going to end up getting deleted. You've been told time and time again about how to search. You either lazy or you're trying to build your post count.

YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE A 4RUNNER! #1 priority for you should be getting that part squared away. Next would be maintenance type questions. Then, after those items are fixed you should move on down the list. Many people here have tons of experience, and it worth it to keep them on your good side.

If you have direct questions about anything, or what anyone has done. Don't be afraid to PM that person. We're more than willing to help, but we hating see threads about the same topics over and over again.
