cut harness on front diff/axle

I just purchased my first 1990 3.0 4 runner. does anyone know what this harness is for. i guess who ever had this before me, cut it off. I am new to the forum, any help woud be great.

Also I tried to put ot in 4wd and it doesn't engage, Can this have anything to do with that see image

Your dash light for your 4wd wont come on now, I wouldn't worry about it though.

Yeah youre right i dosent come on. i aprciate it. guess i have a bigger issue the 4wd does not work.

I did take it to some hills near by, and it did n't make it even half way, so i know the 4x4 isn't working, cause my friend went right up with no probs. thanks red3.slow for your help, are there any other small things that can cause the 4x4 not too engage.

Mine was doing the same thing yours was. You can try swapping around your vacum lines I'll ask the mechanic that fixed mine what he did. It was free so it must have been something simple.

I jacked the truck up on all fours off the ground, swapped the vacumm lines, and sure enough, the 4wd kicked in. Thanks. The only thing is I swapped them from the top near the battery where all the vacum lines go to. Any ways, got it working. took it out and it ran great. Thanks Again for the help.
